"It's okay, Ralph.." you cooed.

"Ralph needs to calm down. He will keep a safe distance from Y/N."
He pulled his face away from yours.
You didn't demand him to stay because you thought it would scare him or stress him out. So you let him do what he wanted. You just sunk back into the wall, sliding down now in a sitting position.
You did not recall blinking even once.
"I wish I could tell him.." you mumbled.
"Ralph wishes he could tell [him/her].."
"He would not understand." You downgraded your thoughts like you always did.
"[He/she] would not understand.."

"I'm such a mess.." you held your face in your hands.

"Ralph is such a mess.." He held his face in his hands.

"I love him."

"I love [him/her."

Thirty minutes passed, you were still just sitting and collecting your thoughts. After knocking your confidence down again, you decided to get up and check on poor Ralph. He must be scared out of his mind.
You slowly walked down the stairs, acknowledging that they were very loud and squeaky. The further steps you took, the more you realized there was scratching coming from the 'kitchen'. Or whatever used to be a kitchen. You immediately knew that Ralph was in there, scratching and carving into the wall with his knife. You worried about him doing that. He was close to the point of damaging himself for his obsession with RA9, whoever or whatever that was.
You entered the kitchen, surprised that Ralph did not notice the squeaky stairs. You snuck up behind him. You knew if you caught him by surprise you'd get hurt by his reflexes. But if his reflexes were that great, he would not have a scratch on his face. So you still kept to your plan of sneaking up on him.
He was completely blind to any danger around him. Oblivious.
You slowly held your arms out, and just as slowly hugged him gently from behind – although, you forgot that an android's pump regulator was located right where you had your hands. He
jolted, yet did not swing his blade at you. More likely because you could have removed his pump within a blink of an eye. So he did not try anything. He froze, and let out a small terrified whine. "You're not going to hurt Ralph, are you..?" He said, with a tone that reminded you of a puppy who was abused all its life only to be greeted gently by someone who actually cared. Scared, confused, and worried he may die.
"No.. No, of course not. Why would I do that?.." You said in the most soothing tone possible.
"Ralph was scared.. He thought Y/N might attack him for what he did."
He quavered. It was heartbreaking to think of how horrible his past was. So terrifying that it toyed with his sanity. He was so lost..

..and it reminded you that you were just as lost as he was.

"Ralph, could you do me a favor, and put the knife away.. Please? I want to talk to you. And I want you to listen to me very clear." You slowly unraveled your arms from his torso. Hence giving him the flexibility to put the knife on a nearby podium. His hands were shaking, you knew you had to calm him down before he self destructed.
"Sit down, please." You instructed. You pointed your hand to a spot beside where you were standing. He nervously made his way to the spot, following your command. You noticed he was using the tarp on his shoulders as if it was a safety blanket of some sort. He was nervous. To be thoughtful you
treated him like he treated you. With the best hospitality you could ever possibly share. You hugged him and held him in your arms like he held you the other night when you were having a nightmare. You rocked him back and forth, slowly, and peacefully. His LED switched from red to yellow, showing he was calmer. "Whatever the humans did to you, I can assure you will never ever happen again as long as I am with you. I will protect you with my life, and if I die doing that, I will have lived a happy life." You said, making sure you didn't actually admit your full interest.
"I care for you. And it shatters my poor little heart to see you in so much pain, and silent worry. Hardly comfortable with the slightest physical contact with me. You are my will to live. You are damaged but you are not beyond repair. Don't let your past hold you down from your future, Ralph." You tried to be more inspirational and less cheesy.
"Ralph will try to change his nature.. He trusts Y/N. He believes [him/her].
He-" his voice trailed off.
"He what?" You said curiously.

"He cannot afford to lose Y/N."
