It's Christmas Eve.

That means Tobias is busy and I won't be able to talk to him. He spends Christmas Eve with half his family and Christmas with the other half.

I'm sitting on the couch in my living room, drinking hot chocolate and watching 'Elf.' I've never been a fan of Christmas movies, but I could watch this over and over again and never get tired of it.

A blanket is draped across my legs and my eyes are glued to the television. My favorite scene is playing. Buddy the elf just found out that "Santa" was coming to the store where he works.

My attention is pulled away from the movie by a knock on the door. I groan internally and pause the TV. I stand up and make my way to the door. I open it and find a UPS delivery guy on the other side with a small package.

"Beatrice Prior?" he asks, looking down at a clipboard with a piece of paper on it.

"That's me."

"I have a delivery for you," he says. "Must be a Christmas present or something."

"Yeah," I say slightly confused. Who would send me a package? "Okay."

"Just sign here." He holds out the clipboard and a pen. I take the pen and write my signature on the correct line.

"There we go." I hand the pen back to him and take the package.

"Have a great day," he says. "And Merry Christmas!"

"Merry Christmas!" I smile. He walks back to his van and I carry the package inside. The package is the size of an envelope so it can't be anything too big.

I rip it open and pull out the contents. When I realize what it is, I internally squeal. When I realize who sent it to me, I smile so wide that my cheeks hurt.

There was a tiny black see through bag with a type of drawstring ribbon on each side. Inside the bag was a bracelet. More specifically a bracelet with white marble beads with a single black bead in the middle.

A Distance Bracelet.

That's when I see the letter. It's written on a piece of paper stuck in the bottom of the envelope in surprisingly neat handwriting that I've only seen a few times.

What it says brings tears to my eyes.

Merry Christmas, baby. I wish that with everything inside me that I could spend it with you. I remember last Christmas. We had just started talking about a month before. I already knew that you were special. Over even that short period of time, you had already become my best friend. I never expected that a year later you would be my girlfriend. But I am so glad that it happened. You are the most important person in my life no matter how far away you live.
                        ~ Tobias

I put the bracelet on my wrist and stare down at it. I feel something in my chest that I've never felt before. It's something that I've known for a while, but I've never been able to say it until now.

I love Tobias.

Yes, we've said, 'I love you,' to each other before we were dating. But this is different. We've said it as best friends. Now I know that I love him as more.

A/N: That was cheesy. I'm so sorry. But the next chapter is a good one trust me.

And thanks Laila, alohafourtris , for the Distance Bracelet idea. 😂

If you don't know what Distance Bracelets look like, look it up. It will make more sense. There are a lot of different colors, but they have the black and white ones! (Mine's purple😂)
