"Hey," I say, almost expressionless when I answer the phone. I'm a little nervous about what he needs to tell me, especially since he said it couldn't wait.

When he smiles, however, all my nerves and worry disappear. Instead of worrying that he's going tell me something bad, I'm excited. I don't even know what he needs.

"Hey, babe." He smiles even wider when he talks. I laugh at his expression. His whole face is lit up, and he looks happier than I've seen him in a while. We FaceTime basically every night, and I seriously haven't seen him this happy since the day he asked me out.

"Okay. Why are you smiling like that?" I asked, a smile forming on my own face. "What is it, Tobias?"

"Tris-" He stops talking and holds up a finger to indicate that I need to give him a minute.

I furrow my eyebrows and let out a chuckle. He opens a drawer and pulls out what looks like a piece of paper.

"I just got the best Christmas present ever," he says. I still can't see what the paper is, but I'm assuming it's this present that he's talking about.

"Okay." I wait for him to tell me more, but he doesn't. "Tobias. What did you get? A Christmas card?" I laugh again.

He lets out a breath and turns the piece of paper around so I can see it. It takes a few seconds for me to realize what he's showing me, but I soon know what it is.

My jaw lowers slowly, and I cover my mouth with my hand. Tears spill from my eyes, and I just continue to stare at him and the familiar shape of a plane ticket in his hand.

I move my my hand away from my mouth, and I'm now smiling and crying at the same time.

"Tobias," I croak out. "Is that?"

I don't have to finish my sentence before he nods, smiling even wider again.

"I'm coming."

When those two simple words leave his mouth, the tears flow even faster and a few form in his eyes as well.

"When?" It's the only thing that comes out, and it's more of a croak than a question.

"This summer," he breathes out, "June 30th. I'm staying until the end of July."

December 25. June 30. Six months and five days.

In six months in five days, I'm meeting my boyfriend for the first time.

"I can't wait to hug you," I whisper, barely audible, but he hears me.

"Me either, babygirl. Me either."

I put my hand against the screen and he lifts his to meet mine from the other side of the United States.

Not for long, I think to myself. In six months and five days we are finally going to break the distance.
