𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟐𝟐𝐧𝐝, 𝟐𝟎𝟎𝟔Emma was on the beach watching the waves hit the hot sand while the sun tanned her skin. She smiled trying to remember every little detail about the feeling. She opened her eyes and stared to the sunrise. Emma can only imagine that some time in her future, she will be glowing and sparkling, but for right now her skin was to be heated and she was okay with that. She turned and walked back to her mother's house seeing she was with Bella tanning on a beach chair. Emma sat down and opened a magazine seeing her mother smiling at her.
" Aren't you gonna miss this ? Don't you just feel the vitamin D soaking up in your pores ?" Renee said not realizing how her words mean't to her. Emma flipped the page to her magazine and nodded.
" Yeah, I'm gonna miss this." Emma agreed looking up from the magazine to see her mother sit up a bit. She couldn't ignore the happiness Renee had. She loved Florida and she was even more happy being with Phil.
" You know girls, colleges in Florida are a lot sunnier."
" Mom, please." Bella begged knowing how touchy the topic was for Emma and wanted to do everything to avoid it.
" I'm just saying, if you guys go to university of Alaska...I'm never gonna see you guys."
" Alaska is an adventure we might want to take. Opposite to what we're used to, like Forks."
" Yeah, they have a really great science program."
" You mean Edward program." Bella said hearing Renee laugh. Emma looked up from the magazine playfully glaring at her.
" Bella's right. The way he watches you." Renee laughed. Emma turned to look and see he was staring at her. She smiled to him before turning back to her mother." It's like he's willing to leap in front of you, and take a bullet or something."
" That's not a bad thing."
" It's an intense thing. You're different with him. If he moves, you move. Like magnets."
" Well, we're just-"
" In love." Renee said making Emma look over to her." I get it. I just want to make sure, you're making the right choices for you. You know, cause you're the one who's gonna have to live with him. Alright, enough with the heavy."
Renee got up while the girls looked to each other and nodded their heads. They turned in their seats seeing Renee come with a box.
" Mom."
" I thought we agreed no presents."
" Congraduation." She said not caring what both girls were saying. Emma laughed taking the present from her mom's hands.
" I didn't want you to spending you're money."
" I didn't, come on. Open it." Renee said and they laughed before opening the box. They smiled before looking to each other then to her. Emma ran her hand over the fabric before laughing.
" Are these all our old trip T-shirts ?"
" Get out."
" I saved'em all. I thought they'd make a good quilt. To keep you warm up in Alaska. Remember this one ? Ensanada."
" The snake pit. Yep that's when Emma got bit and we had to rush her to the hospital." Bella laughed.
" Well, that snake shouldn't have been in my way. It was asking to be kicked" Emma argued which made them both laugh.
" And you were asking to be bit."
" Yep, but this one is my favorite. Here. The three-headed lobster in Maine."
" This is amazing. I love it so much."
" No, honey. I'm glad you've like it. I just figured, you know, when you guys get older, have kids, we can add to it." Renee said and the smile on Emma's face dimmed a bit. Bella looked over to her before squeezing her hand. Being with Edward was going to make her lose the chance and she didn't mind till she heard her mother say it." Maybe go visit the world's largest ketchup bottle or something."
" Thanks mom." Emma said moving the present and hugged her mom. She wasn't going to forget this. Her mother's warm skin and how soft her skin is. How her hair always blew in the wind and the high hopes she held for her daughters. Bella soon joined the hug and Emma couldn't help the tear that dropped. She wishes Vampires could go in the sun and no one did die. She loved her family to much to just lose them, but she loved Edward at the same time.
" Oh, I'm glad you like it. I just thought, you should have a little piece of me, up there in Alaska."
" Mom."
" Yeah, Emma ?" Renee said and Emma squeezed her a bit.
" I miss you."
" Oh, honey. I miss you too." Renee said squeezing her back. When Emma opened her eyes, she saw Edward staring at her sadly and she knew his mind must have been thinking to her choice. Emma didn't want it right away, but she wanted to some day.
Emma sat on the beach late at night hearing the waves crash against the shore and the wind blow her hair only a bit. Bella and Renee were talking while Edward and Phil watched the game. She loved this moment. No worries. She hadn't felt it in a while and it felt amazing. She just hated how it would end soon. She knew her mother would mourn her. She was the oldest after all.
Phil would have to help Renee with the lost and hurt a bit from the lost himself. He did help raise Emma. Bella would be torn knowing her twin sister was alive, but could kill her in the snap of fingers. She wished it didn't have to be like that. She wished when she turned she could be around them. Self control was the key.
She couldn't deny, however, how much she wanted to be with him. She missed him. The whole vacation had reminded her how much she missed him. Yes, she was trying to make a point on how he left, but she no longer felt furious, just a little flame.
" Are you okay ?" Edward whispered coming from behind her and sitting on the sand next to her. She couldn't help the smile come to her face.
" Yes. Just thinking."
" About ?" She looked over to him and smiled. Yes, he left her when she needed him the most, but she couldn't help, but love him. Couldn't help, but stare into to his gold eyes and find nothing, but paradise. It was those thoughts and feelings that had her lean forward and kiss his lips which seemed like forever. He kissed back almost like a habit. She broke the kiss quickly and laughed.
" Why are you always curious about what i'm thinking ?"
" It hard to read you." He laughed before getting up. He held a hand out and she smiled taking it and walking back to the beach house.
