Emma
𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟐𝐧𝐝, 𝟐𝟎𝟎𝟕The days were getting worse by the hour. I held myself tall the best way I could, watching Leo, doing school work, and sleeping, but I could feel my body giving up. Morning sickness had returned and I was beginning to throw up nothing or foam. Edward had gone far distant now with my weaker state. I forced Bella to tell me what he did most of the day and he told me he wouldn't stop researching my condition.
She even told me, he flipped out a bit leaving them alone in the library and when she went to check his computer, she saw a old wives tales on a demon baby killing mothers. Speaking upon Bella, she wasn't looking to good herself. I could tell she hadn't slept in a while and I begged her to knowing Leo needed his mother to be in perfect health. Each time I told her, she shrugged it off taking care of me. I was doing my school work learning about what could be on my final in less than two weeks when a sharp pain cracked my side.
I had made a loud yelp and already Edward and Rosalie were by my side noticing the tears in my eyes. That's where I was now. I laid on the medical bay Carlisle had watching him look over some X-rays of my body and groaned once realizing the area around my stomach was black due to the protective layer keeping the baby safe.
" Your rib is cracked. But there are no splinters." Carlisle spoke turning to face me with a worried look." You haven't punctured anything."
" Yet." Edward snickered.
" Edward." Carlisle warned, but Edward had ignored Carlisle and turned over to me.
" It's breaking her bones now. lt's crushing you from the inside out." He listed turning back to his father desperate." Carlisle, tell her what you told me. Tell her."
Carlisle looked hesitatant not meeting my eyes just yet thinking about words to say, but I was sick of everyone doing that to me. I needed things to be honest no matter how gruesome or horrible.
" Carlisle, tell me." I ordered and he nodded his head turning off the X-ray slides behind him.
" The fetus isn't compatible with your body. lt's too strong. lt won't allow you to get the nutrition you need. lt's starving you by the hour. l can't stop it, and l can't slow it down. At this rate, your heart will give out before you can deliver."
" Then l'll hold on as long as l can, and then-" I argued, but Carlisle had placed his hand on my own growing more worry.
" Emma, there are some conditions that even venom can't overcome. You understand ? l'm sorry." Carlisle said giving me a meaningful look and leaving quickly.
Just by his sudden hurry to leave, I knew he was emotional and devastated to know the true, but I was not. I just...I just had to hold on as long as I can with this baby to at least deliver it. The room had gone silent and I turned to Edward seeing he was staring at me.
" You gonna say something ?"
" l can't live without you." He whispered and I could of sworn I had seen his lip quiver in sadness.
" Well, you won't be alone. You're gonna have a part of me. The baby will need you."
" Do you honestly think that l could love it or even tolerate it if it killed you ?" Edward sneered and I nodded my head sitting up trying not to get upset and start another argument.
" Edward, lt's not the baby's fault. You have to accept what is."
" Because you've given me no choice, dammit !" Edward screamed and I jumped from his sudden outburst knowing Edward had never yelled at me with such anger." Emma, we're supposed to be partners, remember ?"
