Chapter Sixty Two: Serenity and Hope

Emma's pov
𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟑𝐭𝐡, 𝟐𝟎𝟎𝟕

" Well, I'm amazed."

It was about the fifth time Edward had said that about the way I handle myself now. I was shocked, but only on how persistent Edward was that newborns are never really like this. I had to admit, it was a little difficult, but having something worth losing overcame any urge.

" You ran away from human blood mid-hunt. Even mature vampires have problems with that." He continued reaching over and holding my hand.

" I have motives now." I admitted smiling at him." A human based family."

" Emma!" Bella shouted from the deck.

In seconds, she was zooming towards me before pulling me into the tightest grip. Everything happened in seconds for my brain. Bella ran in speed, her skin felt the same as mine, she looked older, and smelled different.

" Bella?" I questioned lightly pulling her away from me seeing her red eyes.

Despite the horror on my face, Bella smiled," You're okay!"

" Bella your eyes!" I pointed out placing my hands on her cheeks feeling how our temperature was the same." Your skin?! What the hell?!"

Bella nodded her head lightly taking my hands away from her cheeks," They had to turn me..." She admitted." The night the wolves attacked, one clawed me. It was the only way to save me."

It was like I felt my cold, dead heart tear in half all over again. While I was dealing with my own issues, my own little sister was in harms way and paid a big price I never wanted her to have. I was suppose to protect her from this world.

" Bella-"

" I'm okay." She promised giving me a wide smile." It took some adjusting, but I'm fine around Jacob, Leo, and the twins."

" Bella...we can be with each other." I said feeling my own smile grow wide.

She nodded her head before we both embraced each other in a tight hug laughing at the odds. For the longest time, I was afraid of losing my twin sister, but we were going to be with each other for eternity.

" You're better." I heard letting Bella go to see Jacob was standing behind Bella the entire time." I didn't expect you to seem so...you?"

" Except for the creepy eyes." Seth added walking slowly down towards us." Emma, it's great to see you up. Don't worry I watched Hope while you were sleeping."

" Since when do you care about Hope?" I asked innocently, but it was like everyone around me tensed up and didn't know what to say.

Edward placed his hand on my back lightly smiling," We'll discuss that later."

I couldn't help, but to frown knowing Seth was a nice boy and probably just wanted my daughters out of the goodness of his heart. It was like the topic was something touchy and in order to tell me, they had to walk on egg shells.

" Okay, Em. It's time. Take a whiff." Jacob instructed.

I couldn't help, but to laugh knowing it was my turn to see what the Cullen's meant whenever they smelled the wolves. I stepped forward, but stopped when suddenly smelling the strong odor of wet dog. I scrunched up my nose shaking my head at how strongly I hated it.

" Well, I can see what everyone's been talking about. You guys really do stink." I said causing everyone around me to laugh.

" That's what I said, but I'm getting use to it." Bella said reaching over and kissing Jacob's cheek." You guys look great together, now. Perfect monster duo."
