Rosalie had driven me home that night and that was the last time I saw anyone from the Cullen family until Jasper showed up in my bedroom. They hadn't shown up to school. They were avoiding us.

I almost jumped out of my skin when I saw him standing there, looking through my bookshelf.

"What are you doing here?" I questioned, throwing my school bag onto my bed.

"We need to talk," he spoke.

"Then talk."

"We're leaving-" he began.

"You and your family," I finished, nodding as I spoke. "So you're leaving because?"

"Carlisle is meant to be ten years older than he looks," Jasper explained. "And because we're dangerous."

"So you're leaving because things got difficult?"

"Sky-"

"Shut up." I glared at him briefly. I took a deep breath. "It's not a decent excuse."

"I'm leaving because I was lying throughout," he spat, making me flinch. "I couldn't carry on with this." He gestured between us. I frowned, not believing how quickly the conversation turned. Truth be told his words hurt, a lot. I turned away.

"Then leave," I demanded, staying facing away from him. I was close to crying and he could probably feel it. "Go," I yelled, my anger getting the best of me. "Because I do not want someone who does nothing but lie in my life. I don't want you anywhere near me. Now go."

"I'm sorry," he muttered, leaving. I waited. I didn't move. I stood there, thinking, waiting until I knew he was definitely gone. I was trying not to cry but eventually, the tears began falling. I moved to my bed, sitting there. How could I be so stupid to someone in who would just leave? Why was I crying? I was used to it, wasn't I? Why was this time hurting so much?

My chest hurt. It felt tight and like my heart was shattering.

In short, I felt like shit.

Charlie came home a little while afterwards and knocked on my door. I swiftly wiped my tears away.

"Come in," I yelled. He entered.

Upon seeing me he frowned, moving forward to comfort me. He sat next to and pulled me into a hug.

"He left me," I explained, a fresh set of tears flowing. I sobbed. "He told me he wouldn't leave me and then he did." Charlie hushed me, rubbing circles on my back. "Why does it hurt so much? I should be used to it," I cried.

"Because you loved him, and it hurts when people you love leave you," he explained.

"Is this what it felt like when Mum left you, Dad?"
