Chapter 3- How

Peyton's POV

I knew how Mekayla truly felt about Zach, and when he moved to L.A. it changed her. Her brother told me that her entire personality changed. She became depressed, she already had an eating disorder, but she didn't AT ALL. She was having more vivid nightmares, panic attacks and she even ended up having to go to the hospital because she started hyperventilated and passed out due to the voices in her head which came from previous seizures and abuse when she was younger. Her father used to beat her, her mom and her brother when he was drunk or high which was mostly every day. He was molesting Mekayla since she was 8 (which was 8 almost 9 years ago). He would do the same to her mother and make her brother watch until he was convicted last year of many felonies. He's been locked up for a year and a half now, but it still has Mekayla on edge.

I requested for her to go see Zach because he was the one thing that kept her sane through it all. He was like her other half and he would make her stay at his house, so she wouldn't have to go home. Mekayla always felt safer around Zach, since him and I are the only outside people who knew about her past. I just wish she would listen to me.

Mekayla's POV

"Peyton," I asked quietly. "Yea," she responded. "Do you think Zach would actually care to see me if he knew I was in L.A. this weekend," I questioned. "I can't answer that because I don't know how he feels, but I do know that seeing him would probably make you feel better," she stated.

Maybe Zach is what I need to bring me back to my old self. I don't know, but I won't worry too much about it.

Zach's POV

When we got back to the house from the studio, my Instagram was blowing up with this video that left me in awe

I can't believe M's here in L.A. When I left Dallas to come to L.A. I became friends with Peyton because she's one of our dancers for tour and shows. She and Daniel got along "really" well and they both kind of have a crush on each other. I haven't talked to M since I left because I didn't think she cared to talk to me, but Peyton was getting intel from her brother saying everything is worse. I know that when she spent the night at my house in Dallas she would sleep peacefully in my arms, but it was a whole different story when she would go home. Even if I begged her to stay with me, she would end up going back to her own personal hell. She was terrified to go back but more afraid of what would happen if she didn't. I never knew how she could go back there, and I can't believe I let her knowing what was gonna happen to her. I loved her too much to let him break her.

I never thought about it until she wasn't around anymore. I decided to try to go to sleep. Before I closed my eyes, I realized that she was hurting more now than when he was hurting her back then.
