Chapter 11- Situation: Part 2

Zach's POV

I never thought my life could end so soon, but now I understand what people meant by life is too short. Life is way too short to hold grudges, or to keep secrets, or to wait to tell someone how much you love them. I made that mistake......I didn't let go of my grudges or tell all my secrets or tell that one person how much I love them. I messed up and there's no way for me to fix it.......

Mekayla's POV

I woke up in a hospital bed with a really bad headache and with Corbyn, Jonah, Daniel, Jack, and Peyton all sleeping in the room on the floor and in chairs. My memory was a little foggy at first, but then I remembered everything. I started worrying about Zach and what happened and where the hell he was. I started hyperventilating and my heart monitor started beeping and flashing red. Everybody jumped up from their places and Jonah ran to get a doctor. The doctor and two nurses rushed in and they got me to calm down, how I know how they did that I don't know but they did. When I was breathing normally all I wanted was answers. "Where's Zach and what happened...is he all right???" I continuously asked. Everyone just kept looking at each other and then back at me.

Corbyn and Daniel came to the left side of my bed and told me some news that tore my heart in two. I started crying and that turned into me having one of my "moments." So there's this thing when your brain is like it's on fire because it's fighting against your body and it ends up affecting both. So the way it works is that my mind would cut off my airways because your mind tells your body what to do and it would be like I was suffocating myself😰(Go check out the movie Brain On Fire on Netflix😊). I couldn't breathe and the doctors and nurses rushed everyone out of the room and they put an oxygen mask over my face and I fell asleep.

Corbyn's POV

When Mekayla woke up she automatically started freaking out. She wanted to know where Zach was, and we knew what happened, but we couldn't bring ourselves to tell her. Daniel and I decided to tell her, but we didn't know how she was gonna take it. "M.........they don't know where he is," Daniel said softly. "What do you mean they don't know," she questioned. "One of Peyton's neighbors called the police and when they got to the door was wide open and....you were the only one in the apartment," I explained. The police told us that they couldn't do much except file a restraining order against Scott, but that didn't help is find Zach. We called and called his phone, but it went straight to voicemail, we tried using Find My iPhone, but it didn't work either. No one in the apartment complex saw them leave, so they started an investigation, but they told us cases like this don't always have a happy ending.

Daniel's POV

Mekayla started crying and then she started suffocating, so the doctors told us to wait in the waiting room. We waited and waited when I got a phone call from a random number, so I answered it. "DANIEL I NEED YOUR HELP," Zach yelled through the phone. "Bro where the hell are you we've been tryna find you," I yelled back. "I don't have much time, but I need you to make sure that M's ok," he stated fastly. "Yea yea she's good, but she's really worried about you," I told him. "Shoot...listen to me just tell her I'm ok and that she doesn't need to worry," he told me. "I can try, but I don't think it'll stop her from worrying," I told him. He sighed but gave me an address and to me to meet him there with the guys. "Ok listen meet me at the address I just sent to you," he told me. The address read 437 S Barron Ave Compton, CA. COMPTON!? All this time Zach was forty minutes away from us and we didn't even know. Before he hung up the phone he told us to tell the police to follow us and to not tell Mekayla. So Corbyn told the officer the plan and I told Peyton to stay here, or...at least I tried. "YOU WANT ME TO STAY HERE WHILE YOU GO SAVE ZACH FROM A DERANGED PSYCHOPATH...REALLY," she yelled and cried. "Hey, look at me...you know I love you right (she nodded her head yes), and I wanna keep you safe and this is the only way doll," I assured her. She was definitely upset with me, but I would rather her hate me and be safe than be in danger. I kissed her and held her like it was the last time I would ever get to. Before we walked out Corbyn, Jonah, and Jack texted Christina, Tate, and Gabbie telling them what happened and what was about to happen. They wished us the best and told the guys they loved them. Mekayla had calmed down and we told Peyton to tell her that we were going to go file the police reports if she asked where we went. I shot one last look at Peyton, but it almost shattered my heart because she was so scared and worried😔 that something would happen.

We walked out of the hospital doors and the police officers were in normal cars, so we didn't cause a scene. I put the address in the GPS and Jack drove. On the way in the car, it was dead silent, we all were thinking about what we were about to face.

After 40 minutes of driving, we arrived at 437 S Barron Ave and it was an abandoned warehouse, and before we got out of the car we all looked at each other and did our handshake at walked up to the back door of the warehouse and opened it.
