Pull out your hankerchiefs, ladies and gents, 'cause this chapter's about to get spicy ;)

Eventually the rest of the crew came to help us; Peter made a bee-line directly to me and helped me up, checking over me for wounds and making sure that I was okay. I told him that I was, even though my hip was most likely bruised and a rib was probably cracked.

Tony, Dr. Strange and I did our best to explain what happened to everyone, but it never came out right.

"Well, Tony and I did our best to protect Dr. Strange-" I started, trailing off.

"-but it was an unfair fight, because Thanos kept using his glove on us." Tony finished.

"I saved Tony, once, though," I added because I was still pretty proud. My suit had taken quite a beating and had lots of scratches and dents on it. My face had dirt all over it, though I wasn't sure how, because I had been very careful to wear my helmet.

"Yeah, yeah," Tony said sarcastically. "We know."

"Well not everyone did, actually-"

"Something is happening," Mantis interrupted me. I would've been more pissed about her stealing my thunder if she hadn't been right. It wasn't really something I could see or hear, more like something I could feel. Not physically, of course, but mentally. We all looked around at each other, the only audible sound being our heavy breathing. Even then, you could still hear a pin drop.

All of a sudden, Mantis gasped, making us all look towards her. Well, more like, what was left of her. The snail lady that had been so kind and helpful had turned to ash before our very eyes.

Tony took an unbalanced step back, eyes wide. "What the hell-?"

"Is that something she does regularly?" I asked, panicked. Quill gave me a small shake of his head. The action may have been silent, but the message was loud and clear.

I felt the same feeling again and then looked over to where it was coming from. Drax was looking down at his arm, which now only went until just above where his elbow should be. The ash was disintegrating him, body part by body part, until his head was gone, too. My eyes widened as Quill turned to look at me.

"Steady, Quill," Tony said when the Star Lord started to disintegrate, too.

"I promised you that we would find you a name," he said to me, ignoring Tony's words.

"No," I said, holding back tears. Even though I had just met the man, he made me feel safer on this trip. "Don't waste your energy on me."

"Just," Quill said, almost gone. "Just remember: you are the Future of the world. Make it worthwhile."

I choked on air when Peter Quill gave me one last smile and turned to ash, his remains falling to the ground.

"Tony," Dr. Strange said, making us all turn to where he was sitting.

"No," I said, leaning against Peter for support.

"There was no other way," Dr. Strange gave me a knowing look, almost as if passing me knowledge, that I thoroughly received. An image of Thanos passed through my mind, along with the glove that he wore on his hand. It was still intact with all of the stones but carried no power.

I knew immediately what it was telling me. Even though the image itself wasn't what would happen, the feeling would. We would win, Thanos would no longer possess power, and maybe everyone that was gone would come back.

As Dr. Strange left us, he gave me a nod, as did I. The last thing I heard as he was completely thrown into the air (quite literally, as well), his voice went through my head.

"Take care of Tony."

I stood there in grief, looking at where the wizard had sat, confused at what he meant.

My thoughts cut off, though, when something I never wanted to happen did.

"Mr. Stark?" The voice was so familiar. My heart sank and cracked in my chest. "I don't feel so good."

Tony and I immediately turned around to where my best friend was starting to have a panic attack.

"Peter," I breathed. "No no no no no no no no-"

"You're alright," Tony insisted, cutting me off. Tears rolled down my face, more coming, but nothing being felt.

"I don't know what's happening," Peter said, falling into Tony. I couldn't breath. I came back to my sense when Peter started to cry.

"I don't want to go," Peter cried. "I don't want to go, Sir, please."

Tony laid him down onto the ground gently and I ran over, kneeling beside his head and holding his hand before it disappeared. Tears were coming rapidly now and I felt myself choke up.

"I love you, (Y/N)," Peter said quickly. He looked me straight in my eyes, his own holding mine. It was like I couldn't tear my gaze away from his gaze - not that I wanted to, though.

"Don't do this," I begged. "Please, Peter. Don't go!"

"I love you so much," he said, his eyes glassy.

"You say it as if it's the last time," I repeated my words from earlier in the day, when I hadn't known what I was getting myself into, but they were much softer and my voice cracked. Peter's tears picked up at my accusation.

"It might be," Peter ended, saying his own words again, too. I cried even harder and leant down, cupping Peter's face in my hands, placing a firm kiss on his lips. He kissed back just as hard.

"I love you more," the words escaped my mouth and onto his lips, just as my hands connected and what I was holding was no longer there. Tony fell onto his arms and knees beside me as Peter had been holding him up. My crying turned to sobbing, and my sobbing turned into screaming. I only calmed slightly when I felt Tony's arms wrap around me. I turned around and hugged him back.

"Why aren't I going?" I questioned, barely audible. "I want to go, too."

"Shh," Tony said, rubbing my back.

"Why aren't I going!?" I yelled, sobs shaking my body.

"(Y/N)." Tony held me firm.

"I WANT TO GO!" I screamed, followed by more crying. Then, as Tony and I sat in a pile of tears on the ground, realization hit. Dr. Strange knew that I wouldn't be going somehow. That's why he had told me to take care of Tony for him. "I'm not leaving, am I?"

"I don't think so, Kid," Tony told me. And I cried until there were no tears left.

After awhile, the blue lady got us to stand up, and told us that her name was Nebula. I nodded a greeting but didn't have enough energy to say anything back.

As I looked around at the damage that we had caused, I knew that this fight was long from over. That somehow, I would get Peter back. Somehow, we would win. Somehow, we would defeat Thanos. Tony put his hand on my shoulder and I leaned into it, glad that at least one person I cared for was alive.

As we stared off into the distance together with Nebula not far behind, thinking of how in hell we were going to do this, I could've sworn that I could hear the music playing.

To Be Continued...

~~~
And there we have it, the end of the adventure.
But not for long.
Lmao that got dramatic but don't worry! Next year (oof that's kinda long), when Avengers 4 comes out, I'll continue the story right where it's being left off.
If it wasn't obvious, (Y/N)'s superhero name will be Future, though an honourable mention goes out to the name Spiderman's Girlfriend. Although I don't think I would've used it, it made me smile :)
Also, thank you all for the love and support that I've received for this book so far. It means so much to me and gives me the encouragement to continue writing this story.
Until next time :)
