I watched silently from the doorway of the white room as Bruce put the finishing touches on to the prototype of the Time Heist suit. Another one stood on a mannequin in the corner. Scott sported one and stood still as Nebula fiddled around with it from the back.
"This time travel suit's not bad," Rhodey commented as he walked into the room, admiring the white and red suit.
Bruce held a small vial of clear red liquid between his large fingers and went to insert it into a small compartment when Scott suddenly jumped back."Hey, easy! Easy!" Scott stopped Bruce's hand with his own and grabbed the vial.
"I'm being very careful," Bruce said calmly.
"No, you're being very Hulk-y," Scott fired back, referring to The Hulk's body size.
"I'm being careful!" Bruce defended, throwing his hands up in surrender.
"These are Pym particles, alright?" Scott pushed, holding up the vial for everyone to see. "And ever since Hank Pym got snapped out of existence, this is it! This is all we have. We're not making anymore."
"Scott, calm down." Rhodey said from where he was standing against the wall.
"Sorry," Scott breathed. "We've got enough for one round trip each. That's it. No do-overs. Plus, three test runs."
Scott clipped in the vial to his suit and immediately began to shrunk, followed by a slight yell. I raised my eyebrows as he grew back to his normal size and narrowed my eyes at the man.
"Two test runs," Scott corrected himself bashfully. Rhodey sighed and hung his head, shaking it. "Alright, I'm not ready for this."
"I'll do it," I said softly, surprising myself. Everyone looked over to me as if just noticing I was there for the first time. I cleared my throat and stood up straight, speaking louder this time. "I'll do it."
"I'm game."
I turned to see Clint standing beside me and gave him a small smile to which he barely returned.
"I'll go, too," he said.
Bruce and Nebula helped Clint and I to suit up and told us the gist of what was about to happen.
"Now, you're going to feel a little discombobulated from the chronoshift, don't worry about it," Bruce explained to us. We both nodded and waited for further instruction.
"Wait wait wait a second; let me ask you something," Rhodey said suddenly to Bruce. "If we can go back in time, why don't we just find Baby Thanos and..."
Rhodey made a gesture as if he were strangling someone with a rope causing me to chuckle.
"First of all, that's horrible," Bruce said with widened eyes.
"It's Thanos-"
"Time doesn't work that way," I finished for Bruce. "A change in the past doesn't change the future."
Bruce looked over to me, surprised I knew that.
"What?" I shrugged. "I just spent an entire night with Tony."
"We go back, we get the stones before Thanos gets them, Thanos doesn't have the stones." Scott rationalized. Rhodey pointed over to him to show that he agreed. "Problem solved."
"Thank you," Rhodey looked back to Bruce.
"That's not how it works," Nebula said breathily.
"That's what I heard."
"By who?" Bruce asked exasperatedly. "Who told you that?"
"Star Trek, Terminator, Time Cop, Time After Time," Rhodey said as he liste off movies on his fingers. I rolled my eyes.
