CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR AVENGERS: ENDGAME
^^don't like, don't read :)My head hurt. You are the Future.
My stomach was empty. Take care of Tony.
My heart heavy. I love you too.
Everything was foggy when I opened my eyes, but even more blurry when they were closed. All I could see was him, and all I could feel was the gut wrenching pain of knowing that I might never again.
I woke up on the cold metal floor of the ship, an ache in my side from where I'd slept on it. I slowly sat up and shook off the sleep from my body before I took a deep breath. My dreams were consumed of him, and every morning was the same routine: wake up, think of him, sulk, pretend I'm okay.
I yawned and brought by arms over my head, arching my back slightly to get the best stretch possible. I stood up and shook my hair out.
I loved the way he'd play with my hair.
My eyes glazed over and I shook my head, exhaling a big breath.
One foot in front of the other, I reminded myself. Just one foot at a time.
"(Y/N), you up?" I heard a familiar voice ring through the halls. I walked to the doorway and turned the corner to meet eyes with Tony, the only person who had kept me going after the fight.
"Yeah," I said. My voice sounded gravelly and distant. I cleared my throat. "Yeah, I'm up."
"Good," the man said. Since the fight on Titan, Tony had seemed to age ten years, though I knew that I must have, too. We both lost something - no, someone that day. "I, uh, found another packet of dried fruit in a container. Do you want it?"
"No, no, you should have it," I dismissed. I had offered our final packet of food to Nebula who had said no. She had given it to Tony who gave it back to me and insisted that I eat it. "I ate last night. I'm young, I can hold up."
"Exactly. You're young."
I sighed in defeat, knowing full well that if I refused the food again, Tony would shove it down my throat until I swallowed. "I'll get it in a bit. Need to work up my appetite."
Tony nodded. He knew that, if it were up to me, I wouldn't be eating at all.
"Alright, Kid. Take your time," he said. I gave him a half hearted smile and began to walk away when his voice stopped me. "Pete would throw a fit if you didn't eat at least a bite."
I swallowed and continued walking. "I know."
My footsteps echoed the small halls with each step I took. I dragged my hand along the wall as I went, not really having any other purpose than just going. Every day since the fight, I had explored Quill's ship. Tony got it working again when he decided that enough was enough, but none of us could save it when It died.
On one of my exploits I had found an old portable cassette player that had some headphones attached, along with a tape already inside.
"Who carries cassettes anymore?" I had muttered before I fiddled around with it, trying to turn it on. The music it played had actually been decent, and I eventually got around to finding a ship-wide music system. The tape blasted over it now.
I bobbed my head along with the music and let my eyes flutter close.
"Mr. Stark?" his voice echoed in my head as a faded image appeared against my eyelids. My heart sank again. "I don't feel so good."
