A Wonderful Wade To Sea (Funky Kong x Fem!Reader)

Today was the day that both you and Funky Kong were going surfing.
You had always been afraid of the water, and saw Funky as being very brave, due to his love of the water. No. Not the water, but instead, the large, seemingly infinite ocean surrounding Kongo Bongo Island.

You'd known each other for months now, since you had recently come to visit the island. After your vacation, you decided to move in because you enjoyed having a friend, being the cool and lovable ape, Funky.

"Okay, dudette, you ready?" Funky asked.
"N-No... I'm not r-ready yet."

You couldn't stop shaking. You felt as if you would be consumed whole by the sea, even though you haven't even gotten a droplet on you.

"That's okay. How about we catch a wave on the sand first?"
"O-Oh. Okay."

Funky then placed his beloved surfboard on the ground, and dug a few holes where your legs would go. He sat on the board, and gestured for you to join him.
You heeded his request, and sat behind him. You were glad that someone finally didn't beg you to get in the water. You were glad someone, anyone, actually did something to try to help.

As you thought that, Funky began to pretend that he was paddling his arms in the makeshift sea. Giggling, you joined him in doing so.

After a few minutes of pretend-surfing, he then said,
"(Y/N), is it okay if we try the real thing? We can go in the shallows if you'd like."
"Y-Yeah. I think I'm ready to do that now... Thanks, Funky."

Pulling himself out of the sand, he reached his arm out to help you up. Grabbing it, you couldn't help but blush, and even though Funky's eyes were always behind his shades, it looked as if he did, too.

Funky set his board onto the water now, lifting you up by your waist to set you atop it. You couldn't help but laugh and blush at his adorable gesture. He set you on the board carefully, moving your legs onto the board so you wouldn't get wet. Making sure you were all set, he carefully got on the board, as well.

What a silly guy.

He slowly paddled out a bit, and you hugged him as he slowly paddled. Funky flinched, blushing, but slowly grew to enjoy being spooned. As he was surfing most of the time, and there was only one girl on the island before you came along, so he didn't have many opportunities for being spooned.

He's so soft. I could just hug him forever. Like a fluffy pillow. But instead of a pillow, it's a buff guy.
You blushed, smiling at the thought.

"Hey, Funky?"
"Huh? What is it, dudette?"
"Thanks. For everything."
"O-Oh. You're w-welcome."

"Uh... you okay?"
"Y-Yeah, it's just that..." Crap I can't tell her that! What if she doesn't...?! "I thought you were going to say s-something else, haha."
"Oh, did you mean-"
"Yeah, I meant I..."

Blushing, the two of you looked away, turning bright red.

"I have a crush on you!" you both shouted nervously.
Funky stopped paddling. He got up and sat facing towards you, and you towards him, looking into each other eyes.

"Um... I..."
"Yeah, haha, um..."

Smiling at him, you leaned in for a hug, and he did too, caressing your waist. Pulling away, you gave him a quick, but sweet, kiss on the lips.

Shocked, Funky shook a bit, and fell into the water! You grabbed his hand, and pulled him onto the board.
"Sorry, I- Oh hey! You brought me up on the surfboard!"
"What about it?"
"You pulled me up, but I'm completely soaked, babe!" which made you blush in surprise.
"Oh! I guess I did!"

You had finally gotten over your fear of the water, thanks to him.
For the rest of the day, the two of you peacefully waded out to sea. After a change of Funky's clothes, of course.

~Bonus!~
Funky was laid across his board, whilst you laid on top of him. The two of you had fallen asleep! You were held in Funky's arms with great care as you nestled into them.
