Drake holds me close to his side as we wait by the front door. Just like Elijah said over the phone, he is coming here today. I bite my lip hoping he says nothing about our talk. I told Drake he had intel, which made him mad that I answered his phone.

The doorbell rings and instead of Drake answering it, Jason does. He opens the door to a man, who I'm guessing is Elijah. He's tall, but not taller than Drake. His hair is dark and short, and his eyes a dark brown look like they have seen hell. He looks tired and rough from the years of doing the job he does.

"Come in." Jason says nodding his head towards the inside of the house. Elijah steps in followed by a man. I tighten my arm around Drake's waist needing the support. Drake tightens his hold to show me he is here. The door shuts as the two men are inside.

"Welcome." Drake greets giving a hand. Elijah takes it glancing to me. Drake clears his throat making Elijah look back to him. "Eyes off her." Drake's voice is a cold warning. Elijah chuckles letting Drake's hand go.

"Oh Adams, your girl is safe with me." He grins a glint in his eyes.

"This isn't a game, Elijah." Drake warns keeping me closer. Elijah glances towards our bodies and raises an eyebrow.

"Why so worried sweetheart?" He asks. I look him in the eyes studying him. I can see curiosity in them more than anything else.

"I'm not worried." I state feeling my inner fighter come to the surface. He chuckles giving me a once over.

"Right. You seem happy, content. Must I say glowing?" He questions. My eyes narrow on him as I hold back from taking a step towards him.

"Cut the crap." Drake spits. "We have business to talk about." Elijah moves his focus to Drake. He raises an eyebrow at him crossing his arms over his chest.

"Indeed we do. Your family depends on it." My eyes widen as my jaw drops. Drake's grip loosens for a second. My heart races as Elijah just looks happy.

"What?" Drake asks. I can feel him glancing to me. I can even feel Jason looking towards me, and I look to him to see him watching me with a raised eyebrow. I close my mouth looking to the ground where Elijah stands.

"Oh nothing, I mean unless there is someone who would like to share something with the class." I feel his eyes on me making me look up. My eyes narrow on his.

"Nothing here, so I'm guessing you are confused." I state clearly. He blinks before nodding his head.

"Must be, come on Adams. We have things to discuss, is that brother of yours here?" Elijah asks switching topics, thankfully.

"Yes, he's in my office waiting." Drake states before trying his attention on me. I look up into his eyes and see him studying me. "Stay with Jason, and when this meeting is done I'll find you." He says. I smile nodding my head.

"Okay, but don't make any crazy decisions." I warn him. He chuckles kissing my lips quick.

"I won't, behave Kitten." I roll my eyes as I watch him walk away. I smile at Drake as he gives me a final smile before shutting his office door. I look to Jason, who is still watching me. Studying me as if trying to see if Elijah's words are right.

"Jason quit staring." I cross my arms over my chest. He clears his throat blinking.

    "L-"

"Will me taking a test make you feel better once you see it's negative?" I ask.

"Yes." I roll my eyes, but sigh nodding my head.
