Elijah's POV:

I stepped onto Jasmine's front porch with butterflies in my stomach and a nervous feeling so beautiful that I knew what I was doing was the right thing. Yah I'm exaggerating, that nervous feeling is anything but beautiful. I have to meet her parents on our very first date! I mean... hang out. But I still know I'm doing the right thing. That's what I've been wanting for months.

I took a deep breath and looked down at my clothes to see if anything is out of place or needed fixing. I had a pair of black pants and t-shirt with a tan plaid flannel over the latter. I topped the outfit off with some tan Timberlands. I know it was cheesy but I had bought a small bouquet of jasmines for my Jasmine, just to tease her. I know I said this wasn't a "date" but it sure feels like one to me. I want everything to be perfect even though "everything" is just a movie and some fast food for dinner.

Anyways, I should probably stop rambling and knock.

Ya think?

Shut up you.

If it weren't for me you wouldn't have asked her out in the first place.

Yes I would have!

Don't start a war you can't win.

Just leave me alone.

I brought my hand up and finally knocked. Not even one minute later, the door opened revealing a man, who I'm pretty sure was Mr. Bryant, Jasmine's father.

"Hello, sir." His gaze was so piercing as he looked me over from top to bottom, scrutinizing my every move and studying my body language. He nodded his head after what felt like ages and stepped aside for me to come in. Once I did, I was greeted by her mother who gave me a warm smile, "Hello, dear. You must me Elijah. So lovely to meet you. Come on in, have a seat. Don't be shy. Jasmine will be down in a minute."

I smiled softly at her, feeling a little bit more at ease and walked over to the living room with her parents leading the way before sitting down. Just a few seconds later, I saw Jasmine and I believe, her friend, Taylor, running down the stairs. My smile only widened at the sight of her, especially when I noticed she also had a plaid flannel on. I could swear I saw her blush when that realization hit her too. Could it be too awkward if I got up to squeeze her in a hug? Yah, probably...

Taylor sat on a couch while Jasmine sat on its arm and I knew from the look her father gave me that he had a couple of words for me. Oh boy.

"All right. Let's get this over with. It's as simple as that: I, don't make the rules. You, don't make the rules. She, makes the rules. Her life, her rules. But, if you break one of her rules, or her heart by any chance, that's when I step in. Have I made myself clear?"

I nodded my head instantly, "Of course, sir. I know any boy would promise to never hurt your daughter but I'm not any boy. I'll make a promise and keep it. I would do anything to prove to you that I am worth being with Jasmine."

I saw her father give a small nod and her mother smile. Taylor on the other hand was sending a blushing Jasmine some teasing looks causing the latter to roll her eyes.

"You may leave now." He got up and kissed his daughter's cheek, her mother mimicking his actions, then they both left.

"Thank you, sir."

I got up with a grin and made my way towards Jasmine. Apparently there still was one obstacle I had to face: Taylor. She was rooted in her spot between the two of us, her arms crossed over her chest. She was shorter than I was but that didn't make her look any less fierce or scary.

"Not so fast, lover boy. Mr. Bryant might not have said it directly, but I will. You break my best friend's heart and believe me, I'll not only break your face, but every bone in your body. Unless Andrew beats me to it."

"Taylor, calm down. None of you will break any of his bones. If he does anything, I won't even leave any bones for you to break anyways," Jasmine said in a duh tone. The feeling of listening to a whole family plot your death was like music to my ears. Please note the sarcasm.

I couldn't help but smile though. I just love myself a feisty Jasmine.

"Shall we go then ma' lady?" I held my arm out for her and she gladly took it as we walked outside, Taylor on our heels.

Jasmine looked at her with a raised eyebrow. "What? I'm just going home. Relax." And with that, she went to her car and drove away.

I winked at Jasmine, "Nice outfit. Were you planning to match with me or was it just fate confirming how perfect we were for each other?"

"Get in the car, Sanders. I don't want to start the bone breaking now."

I'm one lucky guy...
