Chapter 14

How wonderful it is that we laugh because our bodies cannot contain the joy we are feeling.

That is exactly what I've been doing the past few weeks with Elijah. My days have been overflowing with joy whenever I was around him or just talking to him on the phone. We went out on dates or parties with friends with every chance we had. We've gotten to know each other a lot yet he keeps surprising me with every passing day. Speaking of which, I was greeted by him calling me on this fine Saturday morning, telling me to get ready because we're going out. He told me to wear a bikini which gave me a hint to where we were heading. But he said there was something else to it and that got me excited.

If you guys were wondering, yes, we are officially dating now. I smiled at the memory of how he asked me out. I was kind of starting to lose hope of us ever being a couple but he sure caught me off guard.

*Flashback*

"Elijahhhh, where the hell are we going?" I whined, definitely not for the first time today, as Elijah led me somewhere I couldn't see for he made me put a blindfold on before we left.

"I didn't answer the first hundred times so I sure won't answer you now."

I rolled my eyes and gave his chest a hard slap. A satisfied smirk made its way onto my face at the groan that came out of his lips.

"Even when you can't see me, you would never miss the chance to abuse me."

"Who knows, maybe you're taking me somewhere secluded so you can kill me and then bury my body six feet under. "

"Now you're just talking crazy. You know I would never!

"Or would I..." He whispered that last bit in my ear, causing goosebumps to rise all over my body. He just laughed, clearly amused, and kept leading me to God knows where.

A few minutes later and we finally came to a stop. He helped me take off my blindfold. It took me a couple of seconds to adjust my eyes to the light and let me tell you, what greeted me was the most breathtaking sight ever. A rectangular table sat beautifully in the middle of the beach, decorated with a white piece of cloth. It was covered with two plates for each of us and two small lantern like candles. There were red flowers on the side with matching red napkins on each plate, adding a pop of color to all the white. For our date to be at the beach alone, made me so happy. I've always been a lover of anything nature related. If you ever asked me what element I most resembled I would say the sea for I was calm but so deep when I was comfortable around someone. In other words, the beach is like my second home and the fact that Elijah took this into consideration just made my heart swell.

"Elijah, this is perfect..."

He wrapped his arms around me from behind and rested his chin on top of my head. That made me realise just how short I was in comparison to him. "I'm glad you like it. I know you're in love with the sea so I wanted this date to be special, though there is still a lot in store for you tonight."

I grinned, slowly turning around in his arms and wrapping mine around his neck, "I don't know what could top this off but you never seize to amaze me."

His smile grew wider as he leaned in and captured my lips with his own. This kiss, like most of our other ones, was passionate. Maybe one day I'll find the perfect words to describe the things he makes me feel, with or without a kiss.

Once we pulled away, he helped me get seated on my chair before he settled down by my side. We ate all the food Elijah brought not even leaving any crumbs behind. We had some pasta filled with tomato, spinach and shrimp. Credits to his mom. Her cooking was mouth-watering. For dessert, homemade peanut butter brownie bars were served. Now this was all Elijah's work and let me tell you, the guy can cook! I could have finished the whole tray on my own!

After we felt satisfied and full, Elijah took my hand and led me to a low wooden bridge that was dimmer than our previous spot. A couple of seconds later and Elijah was holding a bouquet of seventeen red roses and a white one. A card poking out of the bouquet said the following: "17 roses for the 17 years I should've been with you. The 1 white rose is for the year that I did." That wasn't everything. Down on the bridge lay a set of lights that I never even noticed were there, spelling the word "Girlfriend?" I couldn't hold back the gasp that left my mouth as I looked at a grinning Elijah, hope and happiness evident in his eyes.

"Of course I'd be your girlfriend, Elijah!" I took the bouquet from his hands then jumped on him, wrapping my arms around his neck and legs around his waist as he instantly held me against him. He chuckled as he kissed all over my face.

"I've been wanting to ask you that ever since our first date at the movies a couple of weeks ago but I knew it was too soon. That was as long as I could wait. Thankfully, the wait is finally over." He leaned in and kissed my lips ever so gently before I could reply.

The best feeling in the world is watching everything fall into place when you thought it was too out of reach. Elijah has this incredible way of making my heart happy and my mind go crazy. To me, the most attractive thing is effort. Someone who really wants to talk to me, wants to see me, wants to make me happy... and let me assure you, Elijah went beyond all that.

"Elijah?"

"Yes princess?"

"I want you to continue being the absolute best part of my life... Promise me that."

"I promise you, Jas. I promise to always be by your side, taking care of you, making you happy, loving you and treating you the way you deserve to be treated. That's the least I can do, my flower."

I just smiled as my eyes filled with tears of joy and before I started crying, I closed the distance between us and kissed him softly.

*end of flashback*

I sighed happily before getting up and walking towards my closet to pick myself an outfit.

I now realized that our days are happier when we give people a piece of our heart rather than a piece of our mind...

Been so busy this weekend that I couldn't update. But here I am now! The next chapter will be quite interesting so stay tuned!
Also, expect one more beach date next, an actual one though.
