Chapter Ten – 2015
Part II
Los Angeles – November 3, 2015
They were half way done. Jade could see the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel as they all spilled out of their van for lunch at In-N- Out.
For some reason, she was really struggling on this particular press day. Not with the questions, and certainly not vocally, but with her self-control when it came to a certain blonde Geordie. No, she wasn't throwing herself at Perrie like she wanted to and she wasn't even trying to find excuses to hold her hand, but she was having a harder time compartmentalizing while she sang their love songs.
In the past four months Jade had found a way to block her mind of the fact that Perrie was the person she was in love with while she sang any sort of love song. For those three or four minutes that the song lasted, she was able to sing next to the blonde just like they were the best of friends and nothing more. Jade was grateful for this tactic – without it she would be singing to Perrie with hearts in her eyes for 90% of their performances and Jesy and Leigh-Anne would have a cow, not to mention what the press and their management would think.
Jade had discussed it with Perrie, and the blonde was in favor of this coping mechanism. However, Jade being the actress that she was, tended to do a better job at actually keeping up appearances. As much as Perrie disliked being vulnerable, she sometimes wore her heart on her sleeve and Jade would catch her glancing lovingly at Jade during a song. Jade certainly couldn't be mad at seeing the love of her life give her those beautiful blue puppy eyes, but she was aware that their fans were picking up on their chemistry and simply hoped that most would pass off the looks as two best friends appreciating each other.
