Thin Paper and Broken Glass

At home,
You can't look at yourself
In the mirror.

At school,
You can't get someone
To smile at you.

Your thoughts,
Are like a tsunami.
Full of mud,
Full of insults,
And it never stops.

Your eyes,
Look at every girl,
Every boy,
Wishing you were them.
Wishing you were liked,
Wishing you were needed,
Wishing you were light.

You can't breath,
You're sucking in
Your belly,
You're trying so hard.
From the makeup you wear,
To the clothing that
Sticks to you.

You can't cry
Because then you'll
Seem weak.
You can't cry,
Because there are
No tears left.

But you need to smile,
You need to shine,
Because that girl or boy
Behind you,
Next to you,
Stares at you in awe.

Looking up to you,
Watching you shine,
Crushing on you
Waiting for you to notice.

So smile.
Don't break.
Don't starve.
Don't be who you're not.

Because someone
Is looking at you,
Wishing they were
You too.
