Stranded

~Twenty~

I decided that I didn't want to go back to the camp site after what had happened with Aiden, I didn't really want to face him right now 

 I'm sitting in the shallow waters with my swimsuit and soaking up the sun my body relaxing, but not my mind. I grab my phone from my pocket from my sweater and try to turn it on but it was dead, I threw it back onto my clothes and took deep breaths

"Your not my fucking boyfriend Aiden!"

I cringed at my words, I shouldn't have said that. The look of sadness on his face entered my mind and I sighed again looking up to the sky watching the white clouds pass by. I looked to my right and saw a little baby sea turtle flipped onto its back, struggling to get up. I shuffle over to it and slowly placed two fingers on each side of its shell and  turned it over onto its stomach

Foot septs were heard be hind me and I turned to see Will smiling at me, which I return. "Why are out here by yourself?" he asked and I sighed "I don't really want to see him" I said as Will sat next to me watching the little turtle waddling into the water

"At least you kinda told him, and know he knows" he said and I nodded, taking deep breaths to calm my anxiety    

"I mean what he said to you, wasn't right but right now with his dad breathing down his neck and the anniversary of his mom dying in the church coming up I'd cut him some slack" Said Will and my eyes widen 

Aiden's mom? dying in a...church?

"What?, I thought Aiden's mom died from cancer?" I asked and Will shook his head "Thats the cover story Aiden's dad came up with" I nod my head in a understanding matter, "What was the date" I asked with my head hanging low

Please don't say July 16,2007, Please don't say-

"Uh I think July 16 around 2007" he said and I gasped

They never did identified the other female in the church accident due to all the burns on her face and body, what if it was Aiden's mom?. Oh shit, but why would my mom and Aiden's mom be together?. My mom was doing drugs that night so why was Mrs Taylor there?

"What?" asked Will, I turned to him with glassy eyes "Will, what if my mom killed Mrs Taylor" I said and he eyes widen "Shit Em" He said and my anxiety levels skyrocket "Oh my god Will, what if my mom killed her" I said though tears, Will brought me closer "wait no, didn't she die three years earlier?" I asked and Will shook his head "A year later I was over at Aiden's house visiting and we were playing video games when Aiden said he would be right back, Mr Taylor didn't know I was there and when I had to grab something from Aiden's room I over heard him on the phone talking about Mrs Taylor's death in the church accident and how he would hold her at this place for three years, He lied to Aiden and said she was out on holidays for a few years"

"Three years later he told Aiden, well lied to him that his mother died of cancer in France, then they had her wrapped in this white shit to cover the burns so Aiden wouldn't suspect anything, its so twisted and disgusting Em and I never told him because how do you tell your best friend their mother died in a burning church three years ago but your father lied to you to 'protect you' and held a funeral when she really died three years ago?" He asked 

"Oh my god poor Aiden, he's been lied to his whole life" I said the tears still falling, I hear Will sniffle and I pull him closer "Hey Will its not your fault, okay? you were trying to protect him from his fathers twisted lies? I said and he shook his head

"I still should have told him" He said wiping his eyes with the back of his hand "its okay Will you were young and you didn't know what to do" I said trying to reassure him by sending a smile, which he returned 

There was a long period of silence till he broke it "Whats that?" asked Will, I turned and looked up to were he was pointing 

I squint my eyes to get a good look and see a small thing flying in the sky, and the sound of a helicopter fills my ears, I shot up and so did Will. I run towards the log were we hid the flare gun Will running towards some trees, but I groan when its not there, I sprit to the camp site catching everyone's attention

"Em? you okay?" asked Lizzie and I shook my head "Where's the flare gun?" I asked out of breath resting my hands on my knees 

"Why?" asked Aiden 

I couldn't get the words out, I took a deep breath "Helicopter" I said pointing out to the beach and their eyes widen. Aiden jogs over to a brown bag and pulls it out, we all ran out to the beach and Aiden holds the gun to the air and shoots, sending what looked like a small red star into the semi dark sky

We all look at the helicopter in hopes it saw the flare, which it didn't 

Some start crying, while others got angry. We started to walk back when the sound came closer towards the island, I turned and saw the heli coming our way as Will took a bunch of palm leaves laying them on the ground and banged two rocks together creating a spark, soon catching the palms on fire sending a big puff of smoke into the air, as the helicopter landed onto the sand and a male came running towards us

"Y'all okay?" he asked and we all nodded, Ryan walked back to the camp site grabbing bags and Peanut and one by one we all got on  

Only one emotion was on everyones face 

Relief
