They ran as fast as their feet could go. Their sudden movements agitated the dead and the horde seem to ran faster than before. They fled and ran but can't seem to see where they left the Jeep. Missy lost her balance and she was not able to break her fall. She came down, her body's weight all fell on her left foot.

"Missy!" Jamie screamed. "Stand up! Hurry!"

"I can't! My ankle! Ohhh!" She moaned in pain.

"We can't lose time. They're closing in on us! Jamie, quick! Run to that house and knock! I will carry Missy! Now!"

And Jamie went ahead of them towards the nearest house on the right and knocked with all her might.
Gareth came after her, carrying a crying Missy.

"Help us! Open up! Please!"

Gareth looked back towards the street and from the corner end of the street they were at a minutes ago, the horde running after them were just a few feet away from the wooden gate of the house they were knocking at. Gareth put Missy down on the house's porch and ran to close the wooden gate.

"Keep knocking! The gate won't hold them off. They're too many!"

"Hello! Open up! We need help!"

Just as the first undead banged its body at the closed gate, the lights at the front porch turned on, illuminating the three of them.

"Please hurry! Open the door!" Gareth pounded on the door.

Craaaasssh!!!

The wooden gate fell on the ground and the first undead, Harrison Morris, stepped inside the lawn, arms reaching out towards the three.

The door opened revealing a bulky man in his forties, with a scared-looking woman behind him.

"What is the matter with you folks...?" The man did not finish his question. Jamie pushed him back inside the house, Gareth picked Missy back up and entered the house with Jamie quickly closing the door, locking it and bolting it, but not before the man saw the horde after them.

"Quick! The cabinet! Put it against the door. And the windows! Put something heavy against those windows!" Gareth commanded.

Fear was evident in the couple's eyes and faces but they still followed his orders. The woman pushed a full-length mirror against a window on the left and the man moved the ceiling high cupboard towards the one at the right.

All four of them collapsed on the floor where Missy was slumped, cowering in fear.

"What is going on? Who are those...those...people?!" The man asked softly.

"Those people are employees of BCDC. They live here. The man in front of that group was Mr Morris, Chairman and CEO of BCDC, his daughter Natalie and Dr. Monroe among others. They are all dead."

"Dead?! Why are they moving? Walking? I...I don't understand!"

Gareth and Jamie explained what happened from the beginning up to the time they ran out of gas.

"Good Lord! I can't believe it!" The man exclaimed.

"What's your work designation here in BCDC?" Gareth asked the man.

"I do carpentry for the folks who live here. Furnitures, roof, fences. I'm sort of the handyman around here. And my wife here Martha cooks for those too tired with work to be able to do so for themselves. She delivers meals from house to house. I am David by the way."

"I'm Gareth Bane. Harrison Morris is my father-in-law. There was contamination in the CCBuilding and some people turned into what we call bio weapons. Human weapons meant to wipe out enemies by turning them into mindless creatures. Unfortunately, before we can even test the virus on a human, the accidental contamination happened. Containing the infected failed and they managed to get out of the compound and spread the virus. We ran out of gas and are suppose to go get gas from the pumping station near the office premises when we met with the horde. We didn't know they got out."

"Good Lord! How are we to stop them? They're dangerous!"

"We are looking at a total Evac contingency plan..."

"Evac? To where?" Martha asked.

"To the outside world. We need to get into the terminal that will lead us to the outside world."

"We can't get there by foot. Our Jeep was at the next intersection by the fields. We need to get gas and get back to that Jeep. Soon! Time is running out. If they keep at that banging, the door might give way any moment. That's why we need to act now. Get some clothes on. Jackets. Bottled water and some finger foods. Grab only the essentials. Hurry up!"

David and Martha got on their feet and fled to their bedroom while Gareth and Jamie bandage Missy's swollen ankle and gave her some tablets to ease the pain momentarily while waiting for the couple.
