-What?-Daniel asked.

 I gulped.

–Babe, remember I told you about my ex-fiancé? –I asked.

He looked at me strangely. I made a look.

–I...Uh, sweetie, can I talk to you for a minute, please?-He asked, giving a fake smile.

 –Yeah, sure.-I turned to Nick.

–We'll be right back. –I smiled, as Daniel pulled me away.

–What on earth is going on?-He hissed. –Who are you, and why am I your fiancé?-He asked, looking at me angrily.

I paled. I had a bad past with people being angry with me. His eyes softened when he saw how scared I was.

–What is going on?-He asked a little bit softer.

–I...Uh, so this is what happened. Nick is my ex-fiancé, a cardiologist, now, who well...practically left me at the altar. Let's just say, it was pretty rough, and he needs to know that I'm not drowning in tears because of him. –I rolled my eyes.

–When we hugged, I changed the ring, and lied about being engaged. You came up, and well...here we are. –I looked into his beautiful blue eyes.

Hey, he's a hunk, I have good taste.

I tried not to laugh. He looked back at me.

–You're not married now, are you?-I asked, wincing.

–No.-He said. –Listen, woman, I can't do this. I have to visit my family and the last thing I need is to be engaged to a total stranger.-He said.

–Mr. Cliff, please! I really-really need this! I already lied to him!-Jalena exclaimed.

–That is not my problem.-He said.

–I'll do anything! I'm a designer! I can design clothes for special events for you or something. Please! –Jalena said.

-Okay. I will be needing approximately twelve dresses for Christmas.-He said, after he thought about it.

-Deal.-Jalena gave her hand and he shook it lightly.

We went back to Nick who was talking into his phone.

–You didn't tell my mom that I came, right?-I asked him.

–What? Oh, no, no, no. I was talking to Freda. She's my assistant. –He said.

Freda?

–Well, we'll be on our way. –I said as Daniel brought a couple of suitcases.

–Thanks, hun. –I smiled. He smiled back. Nick coughed.

–I...Um...I can take you home, if you'd like. –He said, fidgeting.

 Get a fidget spinner.

–That'd be nice, thank you.-Daniel said.

–But we'll take the taxi. I'm pretty sure you have plans. –He added.

–Oh, but that costs money. –Nick said. –I'll take you to your mom, Lena. –He smiled.

I looked at Daniel. He shrugged.

 –Don't you have plans?-I asked.

 –They can wait. –He said.

–Let's go. Besides, your mom would want to see me. She always loved me, and hated the other guys, so good luck, buddy.-He said, throwing a challenging look on Daniel.

Daniel scoffed. –Challenge accepted, cardiologist. –He said. I tried not to laugh.

Oh, it's getting hot right now...

-Shall we, babe?-Daniel asked. I pecked his cheek.

It was soft as a baby's bottom...no, it wasn't, it was rough as sandpaper.

–Let's. –I smiled back at him, as Nick rolled his eyes. I saw that, heart wrecker.

No pun intended.

–Thanks Nick. I really appreciate it. –I said. He nodded, smiling.
