Eleven - Refusal

My eyes are like a broken tap, leaking forever.

You were all I ever wanted,
But then you left,
Breaking your promises,
While I kept mine.

Sitting in the dark,
Drowning while I wept.
I raised the knife,
But still you slept.

My hand trembled,
But I would not stop,
Until your lifeless body dropped.

But my eyes fell upon your angelic face,
And my heart stopped its rapid race.

As something in me snapped,
The angel of death smiled,
Then he applauded.

My refusal rang loud and clear,
As I turned the knife around,
For my riot had lost its cause.

The angel's applause,
Was now deafening,
Going on without pause,

You looked as gentle as a dove,
And I knew that I was undoubtedly still in love.

As the blade went through my chest,
I wondered if I had done my best,
To keep us together.

Maybe I did, Maybe I didn't.
But now it was too late,
As the blood ran with the tears.
