What Was It?

It was around midnight when he came over. He wouldn't tell me why he was at my house, I don't think he wanted to. He seemed afraid. Every little sound made him jump and it was beginning to scare me.
"Are you sure you're alright?" I ask as he paced back and forth. "Yeah, I'm fine," he waved me off and kept pacing. "You know, I wanted to tell you something. If I could just remember what it was." He began to hit the side of his head lightly as if it would help him remember. "God, what was it?" He mumbled to himself along with a few other things I couldn't quite make out. Suddenly, he stopped walking. "Did you hear that?" He asked and I shook my head 'no'. "Okay, I'll um... I'll talk to you tomorrow. Yeah, tomorrow." He left then, very quickly. None of what happened had made any sense but, then again, he never did.
