Sitting in an empty room,
The girl's wondering " Where's the groom?"
Anxiety's making her nauseous,
She never thought this day would come so soon.
Life had taught her long ago,
To be cautious, every step of the way.
She had always thought with her head,
Thinking things through before they were said.
Unlike many who followed what their hearts say,
She never let it sway her, into decisions.
Not even in the heat of the moment.
Now it had retaliated,
Making her writhe in torment.
All her life, She had been a faithful servant of logic, statistics and reason.
Though all the facts and numbers predict this is the best solution,
Her heart is yelling at her to see past the illusion.
The stream of doubts and second-guesses is making her head pound,
But her heart remains sound in its decision,
Paying her back with precision,
For twenty-six years of treason.
