The room was completely silent, save for a heartbeat monitor somewhere to your left, beeping steadily. You didn't open your eyes just yet, needing time to come fully to your senses before somebody found out you were awake. Slowly you became aware that you were laying in a bed with your ankles and wrists strapped to the frame. You shivered, alerting you to the absence of your pricey dress, left in your thin lace bra and spandex shorts that you wore under almost everything. The smell of antiseptic filled your nostrils, and there were no voices to be heard, not one whisper of a human presence. Prying your eyes open, you took in your surroundings, the fluorescent lights assaulting your aching head. The room was white and filled with expensive, cutting edge technology. There was a computer on a small desk in the right corner of your room. As you peered at it, you realized there was a scan of a body - your body on the screen. Your interest piqued, you removed your shackles and the IV in your arm before stepping your bare feet onto the cold tile floor. Your belongings were nowhere to be seen, including that pearl necklace.

What a waste. I actually liked that one.

You walked gingerly over to the computer, giving the mouse a shake. It looked like they'd been assessing your health and gene structure. It was the first time you'd seen such a thing. It was beautiful. The mutation was gorgeously intricate and complex. You highly doubted any brain could duplicate this masterpiece. It made your heart swell with pride, even as you heard footsteps down the hall. You weren't exactly in a cell, so you continued to read the notes. Soon enough you could hear voices and strained to hear what they were saying.

"It's just remarkable. I've seen a lot of things, but nothing the likes of her," a female voice said.

"Really? She doesn't look like much." You scowled at the comment by the male voice and looked down at yourself. Maybe you didn't look like much. His voice was eerily familiar and you took a few deep breaths before slouching against the desk. You did well to keep your composure as Tony Stark pushed the door to your room open, a dark haired woman on his left. Her hand flew up to cover her mouth and Stark raised his eyebrows in surprise.

"You're awake," he stated, acting as if it was the most normal thing for you to have escaped your bindings. "Sit down I want to talk." You walked over to the bed and sat on the edge as Stark took a seat on a stool. The woman stayed standing, hovering over you. "Helen is going to check your head. Make sure you're okay. Sorry about the hit." He motioned for her to go about her business, and she took a look at the back of your head. You hadn't noticed it was bandaged before.

"I've endured worse," you admitted. Stark smirked at you.

"Do you have a name?"

"(y/n)," you said. "I already know who you are. I stole a shipment of yours a year or so back." Stark laughed.

"Oh my God that was you. I'm impressed. I have some business to talk to you about." You nodded for him to continue. "First of all, call me Tony. Second of all, it seems like such a waste for someone so gifted to be imprisoned for stealing a bunch of rich people's stuff, so I've got a proposition for you. I want you to join the team." Your jaw dropped.

"You're kidding."

"I assure you I am not kidding," he looked at you pointedly. "That or prison."

"It isn't much of a question is it? When do I start?" You couldn't stop a sly smile from creeping up your face.
