Nightmare X reader *~ plans change ~*

~Part ten~

My dream started like all the rest.. I was in an open area, sometimes it was a park, others its a huge building but this time I was at the edge of a cliff, looking out at all the beautiful flowers and trees that went on for miles. I sighed and managed to smile, as if this time nothing would go wrong. Boy was I wrong..

before I would even get used to the calm feeling, I heard something snap, like someone walking onto a twig. I spun around and looked at the source which looked like a small skeleton..? he was pure white, unlike nightmare. He wore a strange orange and yellow scarf, tunic get up over a black body suit and a golden ring around the top of his skull like a crown.

"uhm. hi." his voice was soft but very nervous and pained, not the kind of pain like you just got shot but the kind when you have to tell someone something very bad, as in their dog just died or their whole life is about to fall apart.

The skeleton stepped forward and smiled, as if stepped forward everything seemed so much- happier? his very presence made all my worries melt away and I couldn't help but smile at the kind creature even if I was meant to question who he was and if he worked with nightmare. "who are you?" I asked him, still keeping my distance.

"A friend. I promise." he smiled lightly which made it real hard not to give him a hug with how sweet he was. "My name is dream, and- I don't think Ill have to prove that I won't hurt you right?"

"I guess not.. but why are you here? only other person I've met in my dreams was-" I stopped myself, I could tell from his change of expression he already knew who's name I was going to say. and now I was worried he didn't just come here to give me a pat on the bag and say all will be fine.

"I'm really sorry.. But my visit is actually about him.. you see-" he paused, pain and guilt filled his voice as he spoke as if he wanted to cry but didn't. "Nightmare- hes my brother.. my twin brother."

"HE'S YOUR WHAT?!" even with dream's very being giving me a wave of happiness I couldn't help but be completely pissed! this one guy, probably the whole reason my whole life has fallen apart, is the brother of the most happy and pure person ive ever met in my life and here he was, standing in my dream like hes the answer to all my problems? nice try, I don't care if your name is smiles and rainbows if your the brother of someone named 'nightmare' your already on my bad side.

"(Y/N).. Look I know your upset- trust me I know. but it's not what you think." he raised his hands in defense like he was scared I was going to hit him or something. "Me and my brother- we have a bad history.. anything he's done to you I promise I don't approve of any of it! In fact that's why I'm here.. we need to talk."

Dream eventually calmed me down and took me to a part of the woods a bit away from the cliff, Flowers bloomed everywhere and there was even fruit growing on the trees. we sat down on a fallen tree trunk by some field mice all fighting over a piece of fallen fruit. dream grabbed one and sat it in his lap with a berry or two in his hand for it to nibble on. "okay so tell me, what is so important that you have to tell me? I don't suppose that your going to fix all my problems are you?" I asked and crossed my arms, trying to stay angry at this guy was hard, it was as if he was made of everything right in the world. even the wild animals seemed to like him..

"(Y/N). I'm not sure even if I can fix all that's happened to you.. but I can tell you what you really want to know.." he spoke soft and calm as to not scare the mouse that searched around in his hand, looking for more food. and as if reading my mind, he looked up at me and said "I can tell you about my brother.. I can tell you everything you want to know about nightmare.. or well- everything I know anyway."
