Nightmare X reader *~ plans change ~*

~Part Eleven~

Dream decided to tell me everything.. and I mean everything. he gave me a picture to look at as he told the story, him and nightmare grew up together, they were brothers I expected as much. But they were- guardians? of feelings? I had some trouble believe that bit. The picture was of the two of them when they were little, nightmare looked so different.. he had pure white bones like dream and there was no goop on him at all, he even smiled shyly which I never thought he could do and wore clothes similar to dream's but in a different color, it was purple and even had a crown with the symbol with the moon on it. dream looked the same other than he was shorter and had different clothes.

"My brother and I protected our mother, the tree." he smiled lightly and pointed to the picture. a tree stood behind them but I choose not to question that two skeleton twins came from a tree.. "The village didn't really like nightmare.. He was their sadness, their anger."

"I can understand that, but how could that have made him go- well.. all dark side?" Dream glared at me for a small moment, like I was the very villagers that drove his brother to madness.

"Nightmare thought that if he ate the golden apples of the tree the villagers would like him. but his very touch spread to all the apples and turned them black.. rotten and evil." dream added and turned back to the mouse that had fallen asleep in his hands. "he ate the apples anyway. and they had a horrible effect on him that took over him, as if the evil in the apples ate him entirely. they covered him in that strange liquid and he-" he stopped and took a moment for himself before continuing "he killed our mother.. he chopped the tree in half and then went to the whole village. he ended everything right then and there and went for the last golden apple that survived, but I got to it before he could and now he attacks me and everything I stand for, trying to get the last apple for power."

after that he went on and told me about their fights and how my whole world was only one in a million just like it, which didn't exactly rest well with my stomach. everything felt so small suddenly.. "wow." I said and stared into space, dream gently set the mouse down with the others that also went to sleep. he stood up and laid a hand out for me to grab. "come on." he smiled nervously, like I might flip out at him which was very likely.

we took a walk for a minute or two, I tried to process everything but now I was more confused than ever.. "so he wants power.. to take away all happy feelings forever and- for some reason he's picked MY home to attack in this huge quest for power?" I looked at dream who was trying to pick a few flowers.. he was so distracted. "dream!" I yelled out and he jumped, looking over at me, looking shocked.

"sorry sorry!!" he cried and led me back to the cliff. "to answer your question, yes. when he attacks universes under my protection, happier places. he makes them sad and angry and scared. that all gives him power and takes away from mine. your universe was hidden for so long- It's a shame he finally found it.. I'm truly sorry (Y/N).."

"so now what do we do? I don't think nightmare is going to just stop here and now.."

"that's not for you to worry about! I'm going to stop him like I always do, but I did have a reason to come tell you all this." he put on a confident smile and looked over the cliff at the trees. "Now that you know about him, and why he's doing this I hope you know he's not only targeting you. Its your whole world. your lives are under my protection now so you should have no problem going back to your normal life! I'll handle my brother then everything will be right again. Just DON'T. GO. SEARCHING." he explained and ended the whole thing with a long pat on the back which almost made me fall over.

"I'm sorry what? don't go searching? you just told me all about the guy! how could I NOT go searching?!" dream didn't like that, he probably thought telling me nightmares life story would somehow make me not go running but this guy has GOT to pay and I didn't believe sunshine and rainbows over here could do that. "I have to go do this dream. I barely know you how am I going to put all my hopes into a stranger!"

"BUT (Y/N) I'M NOT A STRANGER! that's one of the many reasons your even HAVING this dream right now! if it wasn't for this dream, nightmare would be in your head, along with a million other humans and I am taking a lot of time right now to stop that from happening. now please, PLEASE just listen and trust me on this! don't go searching.. please." he was practically begging me at this point which made me feel bad but I couldn't help but doubt the fact he could get the job done. I gave in and said fine, he sighed and his smile returned. "thank you (Y/N). really." he hugged me and then suddenly pulled away. "OH I need to go! I'll have someone on their way to your house by the time you wake up, you should hurry, he doesn't like to wait!" my dream started to fade away and I started forgetting certain moments at a time, I got dizzy and dream started getting real blurry "oh and (Y/N) Before I forget don't you DARE go to-"

Then I woke up.
