Ashton’s breathing stayed heavy as he lifted his knife in the air, the girl screeched below him. His smirk only grew as she pleaded for mercy. His fingers brushed against her cheek before the knife lodged his knife into her chest. He watched as she fell down, he moved out of the way and watched her body, lifelessly, hit the floor. He let out a deep chuckle before he heard a small voice,

“W-What did-did you do to my mu-m?”

Ashton’s eyes flickered to a small boy, clutching a green blanket to his chest, “Put her out of her misery.”

The younger boy’s eyes softened but soon filled with tears, “Sh-She wasn’t sick.”

“She was sick of the world around her.”

The young boy sat down and normally Ashton would have stabbed him as well but watched as he brushed the hair behind his mum’s ear. “Did she feel it?”

“No.” He lied.

“She did.”

“How do you know?”

“I just do.”

“That’s not enough.”

The younger boy let out a sigh and laid his head on her back, covering the rest of his body with the green duvet. “I hate you.”

“Hate is a strong word.”

“And what would be the difference if I strongly disliked you?”

Ashton picked the small boy up, without a word. Ashton didn’t understand why the boy didn’t struggle, walking towards his car. When he put the boy in the backseat, making sure the child-lock was on; he walked to the front seat.

“What’s your name?”

“I could ask you the same.”

“It’s Ashton, now. What’s yours?”

“Luke.”

“Why didn’t you struggle, Luke?”

“What would be the use? You still would have taken me.”

“True.”
