Salome sat on Momma's lap. "But why do you and daddy act different?"

"I don't know what I used to act like, babylove. It's like...you don't remember what you were like as a baby" Momma explained.

"That's cause I forgot!" Salome laughed.

"That happened to me too, I forgot."

"Ohh" Salome said, nodding her head. The weapons on her hair clacked as she did so.

"Well daddy act funny now" Salome poked at momma's belly.

"Imma fix my attitude, okay Lo?" Dad said.

"Okay, but I still want to be at Violet's house!"

"Why?"

"Cause staying with Uncle Monday is fun! And Violet says that we're like sisters. It's fun going to school together!"

"What if we want you here?" Momma asked. "I want to see you in the morning too, ya know?"

"After the baby comes! Then me and Violet are gonna stay here!"

I laughed because she had put a lot of thought into her plan.

"We'll see" Dad said.

"Are you and momma friends?" Salome asked.

They looked at each other.

"Yes, we're friends" Momma spoke first.

"Nuh uh. Parents kiss, and you and momma don't kiss anymore. You used to kiss all over the kitchen!"

She was more observant than I thought.

Nobody said anything.

"Well?" Salome turned and looked between the two of them.

"Well?" She repeated, looking at me this time.

"Well?" I looked between my parents.

Momma stood, and sat Salome down in the chair.

She walked over to dad, and grabbed his face, giving him a quick little kiss.

Dad pulled her down onto him, and kissed her again.

She didn't resist.

"Ew" Salome clapped. "Diji, we're gonna go to your room now"

Darold

Sayvior cut the sink water off, and walked into the bedroom.

"Goodnight, Darold" She picked up her pillow.

"Where are you going?

"I . . . I don't like this. I don't like us. I'm so overwhelmed. You just yell at me, and keep me boxed it. I don't like it, Darold. My past is in my face. I don't even know you."

"Please come sit with me, baby." I sat up.

"Don't try to give me dick. I don't want to fuck you. I want to figure you out, and I want to figure us out"

-

"You're not saying much" Sayvior commented.

"I can't enjoy the silence?"

"Just say that you're sick of my mouth" She laughed.

"I'm not. Are you tired of walking?"

"No" She stopped walking, and stared at the courthouse.

"What?" I asked.

She shook her head, and walked away from me, walking up the stairs.

I followed behind her.

"You know that we know this place. Did I assault somebody? Did they catch up to me and my cases as a kid?" Sayvior asked.

I stayed quiet.

We entered the building, and she looked around slowly.

"Darold?"

I shook my head.

"Can I help you?" An officer asked.

"No" Sayvior walked towards the line of people.

"What you thinking?"

"I'm thinking that we got married there" She pointed to the room. "What do you think?"

I shrugged. "You strayed away from our walk to come here? You don't trust yourself?"

"Excuse me, I'm a witness" Sayvior dipped though the people and made it inside.

"I'm just a witness. Excuse me, my wife's in there" I followed behind her.

She pointed at the officiant. "He did it, and he's still here"

I nodded in confirmation. "You got it"

She looked around the room. "It looks familiar, but not really"

She touched her stomach. "I was pregnant, right? Deon said that."

"Yes"

Sayvior nodded and went out the exit. "Take me somewhere else"
