Lincoln sat on the edge of his bed, playing on his play-station, it wasn't a new game, but minecraft was a simple pleasure, he had been stuck at home for the past week or so due to his dangerously high fever, he had all the symptoms, except for hot skin, for some reason, it was actually cold to the touch, but he didn't feel cold, he was due for his examination today at noon, and was just biding his time while he waited for his mother to return from work, she said that she went through the same thing when she was a child, and that it was bound to happen to one of them, it apperently made them incredibly weak for a bit, but when they recovered, they would be a lot stronger than before, and to think of it as a 'second puberty' it was a weird way to describe it, but it put it into terms that the others understood

lincoln heard his mom pull into the driveway, followed by the car door slam, hegot up and made his way downstairs, he grabbed a bottle of water and went out to the van, his mother was leaning against the door, the tree providing some lovely shade, which was much needed, considering how hot this spring was, she got back into the van and lincoln got in on the other side, since his dad wasn't there, and none of his older sibings were either, he got to sit in the front, which was not usually something he could do, but since he was the oldest child here, he got that privilage

"hey mom, do you think my skin will stay this pale" lincoln asked

"why do you ask"? rita replied

"well, seeing as your skin is as pale as mine, i was thinking that maybe it would stay like that, considering that Lucy also has pale skin, and now mine looks the same"

"well, it might not, but it probably will, this is around the age that it normally hap'1121's syndrome, but itgoes a bit deeper than that"

"how much deeper" lincoln asked

rita chuckled, "about six feet" she said

"lincoln completely misinterpeted the pun, and checked the door to see that it was locked, if she tried what he was thinking about, he would hav no escape, his heart began to slow as dread filled him, or was it something else,, they pulled into the walk in clinics parking lot and got out, walking up, lincoln brethed a sigh of relief, he felt kinda bad for thinking that his mom would try to kill him, but to be fair, anyone under her amount of stress half the time was probably likely to go insane

iside the building there where a few sections, a dentist office, a lawsuit room for filing charges, and the walk in room, they took a seat in one of the fabric chairs and waited, and waited, and waited, until  the woman at the desks phone rang

"hello, okay, yep, i'll send them in", "Is ther a lincoln, and rita loud, she said aloud, lincolns mother stood up and walked up to the desk,

"miss jenson will see you now" the woman said

"thank you, lincoln come on"

inside the  room, a fairly tall woman stood with her back turned to the door, shuffling through a few papers, she turned around suddenly when she heard their footsteps, she quickly urged them to sit, she looked extremely tired, as if she hadnt slept in a week,

"so rita, how are you"  miss jenson asked

"oh, i'm good, how are you" his mother replied

"you know each other"? lincoln asked

"of course" rita said "we've known each other for decades"

"ok, rita, so you think he's one of us"?

"oh, im almost sure" she replied

"one of what"? lincoln asked

"can i get a blood sample please, lincoln"

"uhh, sure, lincoln said,  shifting his position so his are was face-up in his chair

"the woman pulled out a needle, and proceeded to withdraw the red liquid from his arm, she pulled it out, and examined it, licking her lips while staring at it, she then ran a few tests on the computer, before coming to rita, "so, how do you plan to tell him,"?

"same way i told lucy, blunt" she said"

"tell me what" lincoln was now itching with antipation"

rita looked at him, with an expression he hadnt seen before, joy, but a different kind from regular joy "lincoln, your a vampire"
