Trust Issues

It was Tuesday! I rolled out of bed and, rolling my shoulders and giving a long yawn, put on my armour. I walked over to our bookshelf and pulled off the book. Liam's book. Although I had potentially just given up my last chance to see my brother again, Electra was right. I should be spending time with him because I want to spend time with him, not because a prophecy said I should. I placed the book on my bed and flopped down by it. The book opened onto "Chapter 7: How to use magic". A note fell out. It was hastily scribbled in untidy writing:

Amy,

I don't know why you turned around yesterday but I would hazard a guess that you realised you weren't doing it because you wanted to. I know that you haven't unlocked your powers yet so I thought I would draw your attention to this Chapter in the hope that it would help you and the rest of your Anchemi. I still remember my Anchemi. It had the boy in your year, Thomas' brother and his Lightning Dragon in it as well as two Earth Dragons and a Fire Dragon. Although we were well trained, we were nowhere near as powerful as you will be.

I need to do some scouting, to find out where the Dragon King is. Although his official name is "Qelingtham Maepkiham", he is more widely known as Quaem. I know you are conflicted about me, so please use this time to decide on your opinion of me.

No hard feelings either way.

Love you little sis!

Liam

P.S. discuss this with your Anchemi

A voice interrupted with my thoughts.

"What's that?"

I wordlessly showed Cherry the note before asking "What do you think about it?"

She read the note and plopped onto the bed next to me. "Well, firstly, how did he plant this note in the book? He must have crept in to our bedroom whilst we were sleeping or something,".

I shuddered. "Stalker alert. That's a good point but quite creepy,". Cherry nodded before continuing:

"He is still trying to suck you into thinking about the Dragon King. Telling you the King's name could just be him trying to get your trust. What was the chapter about?"

"Magic".

Some clomping and jokes could be heard from downstairs. Cherry and I walked down the stairs. Stephen looked up:

"Hey Amy! Hey sis!"

I sat down inbetween him and Adam and showed the rest of the Anchemi the note.

Barney spoke up:

"So this chapter, it's about magic?"

I smiled. "Yes"

He continued: "Are we sure we should use this book? I mean, it was planted by Liam anyway."

Adam nodded. "True. It might be dangerous to read anymore of the book,".

Stephen grabbed the book off of my lap and flicked it to the right chapter. "Too late!"

He read it out aloud:

Magic wielders, called Mages, will have the power to use one element out of the four: Fire, Air, Earth or Water. Many studies have been undertaken to try and discover how someone can use an element, but they were all fruitless. Some Dragon Riders can control an element, but their element will be the same as their Dragons. Mages have the lowest standing out of the hierarchy, only one above ordinary people with no powers or dragons.

I thought of Peter and looked at Adam. "What happened to Peter, the boy who snuck onto our corridor?"

Adam paused and thought about it for a minute. "I remember hearing a rumour that he was being sent to another Academy."

Barney spoke up. "There are other Academies? I thought this was the only one in Alactria."

Cherry looked up. "According to the book Dragon Rider Traits of the World, there is another one, in the mountains of Alcavar, the very South of Alactria,".

We all nodded our thanks and Stephen carried on reading:

Dragon Riders who can control their Dragon's element are called Warlords. It is especially hard for Dragon Riders to unlock their powers as they can only do it after their dragon has breathed fire for the first time.

We smiled. All the Dragons could breathe fire - they had had an early morning lesson earlier, in which they had all breathed fire in their own element's colour.

After their Dragon has breathed fire the colour of their own element - pink or purple for plasma, grey for wind, green for earth, black for shadow, blue for ice dragons and orange for fire - the rider can start to practice magic. To do so:

Find a nice open space where you cannot damage anything.

We all ran to a spare training field (training field F) and stood away from each other. Stephen shouted out the rest of the instructions:

Picture your dragon in your mind

Think of the best. Memory you and your dragon share

Imagine you are releasing your power

We all followed the instructions. I pictured the happiness I felt when I flew with Electra. Pressure was building up and up and up, I flung my hands out towards the forest as the pressure was channeled out of my body as a huge purple wave. Other colours of orange, blue, green and grey joined my wave and-

Everything went black
