Kabanata 4

"You have a successful cousin, why would you like to drive around instead?" I asked him as we sat in the middle of the grass while staring at the skies.

"I just like to drive around," Sumulyap s'ya at ngumiti. "And I am used to a simple life now,"

"Bakit naman?" I asked and stared at him. "I can feel that you came from a rich family, you're good at speaking english, why is it?"

"Uhm...I just get used to it. Nasanay ako sa pinsan ko." Tumikhim s'ya at tumitig sa langit. "And I liked it this way, to drive around and being able to talk to someone."

"And she doesn't like rich guys that much so..." Aniya.

"Girlfriend mo?" I looked at him, curious of what he's saying.

Sumulyap s'ya sa akin at ngumiti, nakita ko ang kislap ng malungkot n'yang mata na mas lalong gumanda dahil sa ilaw ng bituin sa kalangitan.

"I wish," He stared deeply at me and smiled sadly. "I only wish."

"Then...who was it?" I asked.

"From my past," He murmured and stared at me. "She's just like you, a nurse, a very beautiful and kind-hearted nurse."

Hindi ko alam kung anong mararamdaman ko sa sinabi n'ya. Would I be glad of his compliment or will be sad because of his past and he's not referring to me. Mabilis ang tibok ng puso ko habang nagsasalita s'ya.

"I remembered being involved in an accident, napaaway kasi 'yung kapatid ko then of course, I helped him. Nakipagbugbugan rin ako until the police came."

"Oh, basagulero ka pala e!" I exclaimed. He stopped as if he remembered something and a small, genuine smile left his lips.

"Muntik na kaming makulong but a witness saw us and confessed that it wasn't our fault so ee are freed, dinala nalang kami sa ospital and magulo sa emergency room. Walang doktor na pumunta sa amin but a nurse did, kumakain pa ata s'ya 'nun but when he saw our bleeding faces at walang nakapansin ay tumakbo s'ya at inalalayan kami."

"Dalawa kayo? Pati 'yung brother mo?" I asked.

"Mild lang 'yung sugat n'ya. Pasa lang but I was with the more severe one, may malaki akong black eye dito." He pointed his eyes. "And a cut on my lip, gago rin kasi 'yung kaaway 'nung kapatid ko, nanghampas ba naman ng bote."

"Oh my God!" My eyes widen. "What happened, then? Buti hindi ka napuruhan? Patingin nga!" I pulled his face closer and cupped his cheek. Tinitigan ko ang mukha n'ya at sinuro kung may bakas.

While staring, I can't help but to feel giddy and blushy. Napatitig ako sa mukha n'ya at hindi makapaniwalang napasinghap.

Damn, why does he look this handsome?

He was silent, nang mag-angat ako ng tingin ay nagsalubong ang magkalapit naming mukha. I blinked, nakita ko naman ang malambot n'yang titig sa akin.

They were serious yet looks like they're longing. Nang makitang bumaba ang tingin n'ya sa labi ko at bahagyang lumapit ay kumalabog ng mabilis ang puso ko kaya nabitawan ko ang mukha n'ya at mabilis na napaupo.

"W-Wala naman palang peklat," I murmured.

My heart is beating too fast! Damn it! Calm down, Polaris!

Nang sumulyap ako sa kanya ay nakita kong nakatungo s'ya at may maliit na ngiti sa labi, he was pulling the grass and smiling like crazy.

"T-Tapos?" I asked.
