Kabanata 15

"W-Where is it, Dad?" Halos mapaos na ang boses ko para lang magmakaawa kay Dad na pakinggan ako.

"L-Lars, hija, you can't go in there in that state. I want you to calm down, okay?"

"You lied to me, Dad!" Suminghap ako at humagulgol. "Ikaw na nga lang ang pinagkatiwalaan ko, nagsinungaling ka pa!"

"P-Polaris, anak, someday you will know why I did that--"

"It was my son, Dad! Hindi iyon ibang tao! Anak ko 'yun!" I sobbed harder, clutching my chest, catching my breath.

"A-Anak..."

"Tell me where you buried my son! Tell me!" I exclaimed. "D-Dad, maawa ka naman sa akin... I feel so lost... Please."

"Polaris,"

"D-Dad, please... I'm begging you. Please." Singhap ko sa nagmamakaawang boses. "I want to see my child, Dad. 'Y-yung anak ko..."

"I know you'd react like this if you knew..."

"D-Dad, 'yung anak ko..." Sinapo ko ang mukha at napailing habang nakatayo at hindi na alam kung saan mapupunta.

"I'm really sorry, Lars." Nabakas ko ang lungkot sa boses ni Daddy. "I'm sorry for what happened to my grandson, g-ginawa namin ang lahat."

"J-Just tell me where..." I gasped. "Tell me."

"Anak,"

"D-Dad... Please."

He sighed, nabakas ko ang takot at lungkot sa boses sa mga sumunod na sinabi.

"I will send you the cemetery." He whispered sadly.

Naupo ako sa gilid ng bench habang nakatulala at inaantay ang mensahe na ibibigay ni Daddy. I still can't process everything.

The happiness when I found out about my child and the pain when he was gone.

Hindi ko pa nakita at nahawakan, binawi na kaagad.

Nang matanggap ang mensahe ni Dad ay kaagad akong pumara ng taxi para magtungo sa sementeryo na sinasabi n'ya kung nasaan ang anak ko.

During the trip, I coudn't think clearly. All I can think is that I will finally see my son. Wala akong maisip kung hindi ang anghel ko.

Miss na miss ko s'ya.

"Ma'am nandito na po tayo," And when the driver announced our arrival, walang pagdadalawang-isip na lumabas ako ng sasakyan at pumasok sa sementeryo.

This cemetery is very familiar to me, this is where my Mom is buried when she died with my grandparents.

Our family got our own place here so it wasn't that hard to find it. Just one step in the place and everything feels like the first time again.

Bukas ang ilaw sa museleo at malinis ang mga puntod kagaya ng nakasanayan.

Unang nakita ko ang puntod ng Mommy at kaagad na sumikip ang puso ko. I walked towards there, with my shaking hand, I tried stopping my tears from falling but I am afraid I can't.

I saw fresh flowers on her tomb and the candles has been placed there like it was there just this morning.

"M-Mom," Bulong ko sa hangin at lumapit. Nanlalabo ang mga mata ko habang hinahaplos ang lapida n'ya at patuloy na nalalaglag ang mga luha.
