yumi's breath hitched when bambi walked into her room after getting changed. bambi had forgotten pajamas for her sleepover to yumi's so she had to borrow some clothes.

bambi was completely drowning in the clothes, even yumi's smallest shorts were too big for bambi. the large shirt covered down to her thighs and was falling off one of her skinny shoulders. bambi, unlike yumi, had very narrow shoulders so the shirt was like a dress that was to big.

bambi held the shorts in her hand and gave them back to yumi. "they don't fit, but this is okay."

yumi, avoiding looking at bambi, grabbed the shorts and put them away. "do you want to go to bed?"

bambi nodded, crawling onto the far end of the bed and under one of the many blankets yumi had on her bed. they laid on some and used the rest over them.

"yuyu, i don't know if you're tired and if you are, just tell me and i'll stop but we close right? so i can talk to you about things?"

"of course, bam, what's wrong?" yumi was worried by how serious, and even sad, bambi sounded.

"liking girls is really scary. boys think they can make me straight or think they're an exception. i used to have a friend who said that and it really hurt me because we were pretty close. and people think guys are born gay but girls chose to be lesbian or like girls. why do people say that?"

"i don't know. people only like girls together when they get something out of it. it's gross. but loving yourself is more important than worrying about what other people think."

"but i'm scared sometimes. boys tell me they can have sex with me and make me straight. what if they do something?"

"i will protect you as much as i can. you're so tiny and pretty..." yumi trailed off, she had nothing else to say. "let's go to sleep."

bambi nodded. at some point in the night, bambi had turned around, moved closer to yumi, wrapped her arms around yumi's torso, and used her chest as a pillow.
