It was around nine o'clock when I got into the office.
"Let's go," said Gibbs, coming round the corner with a cup of coffee.
McGee went first with our findings and reminded everyone about the photos that Abby was working on then stepped back.
"I talked to many people at the Pentagon but none of them would tell me anything about Wheeler or Westfall." Tony told us.
"I also spoke to many people and learned nothing," Ziva piped up.
"We need to find out where Wheeler worked and who he reported to," Gibbs told us.
"We'll have to talk to his co-workers. We have no idea where his office is," I agreed.
"They're hiding something!" DiNozzo insisted.
"No, they're protecting something," said Gibbs.
We didn't respond.
"After we struck out at the Pentagon, we went to talk to the neighbour. Lance Corporal Derek Fawlen was at his parents home when Mrs Wheeler called. He ran next door and found the husband unresponsive," Tony informed us.
"He checked for a pulse and performed CPR until the Emergency Services arrived," Ziva jumped in.
"Ah, yes, but what Ms David has not told you," Tony looked at McGee and I, "is that we know something else. Something big. General Westfall picked Mrs Wheeler up from the hospital and took her home. The neighbour drove her to the hospital because she couldn't get in the ambulance. She used his cell to call Westfall then sent a text."
"Her first call was not to her sons or daughters. It was to Westfall," Ziva stared at us.
"The neighbour said they arrived back almost two hours before the SS showed up," DiNozzo concluded.
"He lied!" I cried, "He said the last time he was alone with her was before dinner a month ago!"
"I knew it. The people at the Pentagon are protecting Westfall. They know about him and the wife," Tony growled, "We should bring him in."
"For what, DiNozzo?" asked Gibbs.
"For lying to a federal agent... and obstruction!" Tony exclaimed.
"This isn't about an affair, if there even was one. We need to know more about Colorado and why Wheeler was working with the Air Force. Concentrate on that!" Gibbs told us, "And McGee, Molly, work with Abby. Go through those photos."
"Gibbs, we have not looked at the phone records for anyone!" Ziva whined.
"Hey, that's right! You told us not to!" Tony turned to McGee, "Do your thing."
"No, not yet. Westfall, Wheeler, Colorado. Use your intuition, your contacts, your imagination. Find something," Gibbs grabbed his coat and left us to do whatever we had to.
On Monday, I got into work to find McGee and Abby huddled around a computer.
"How long have you guys been here?" I asked, yawning.
"Since six," McGee told me, "And we worked all through yesterday."
"You did what? You should have got me!" I said.
"Well, we knew you had school work so we left it. We found something, though," McGee began as Gibbs came through the door.
"Gibbs! We worked a long time yesterday and we've got some results!" Abby said.
"What about the lab ones?" Gibbs asked.
"I had a problem with my baby... Ducky gave me some new samples and they should be done by tomorrow!" Abby said.
