There was a smell coming from somewhere near Spike; it wasn't delicious, but at the same time Spike felt like eating a couple of bowls of it. Either because his stomach hadn't been filled in what felt like a day, or because the smell itself was meant to be appetizing, Spike didn't know, but it helped him open his eyes from the long sleep.

He immediately could tell he wasn't in a room he recognized. The walls had clear rot in the wood, and the wood itself wasn't professional cut nor smoothened out for typical housing walls. It was more like a trees trunk had been cut down, then split in half multiple times until the right size and width was found. They didn't look smooth, balanced, or even stable.

The roof was made of a bunch of leaves still connected to their branches. Dozens of them laid out over the opening above until only gaps made of tiny cracks were left.

The room itself was empty too, the only thing in it was the uncomfortable bed Spike was laid upon which felt like metal. Spike jumped off immediately once he found himself awake enough to do so and moved to the next room through a 5 foot high doorway.

The bigger room beyond was a bit more full than the 'bedroom,' though at the same time it wasn't as packed. There was a furnace to Spikes right made of cobblestone. It didn't seem connected to the wall, it was just built there on the spot and inside was some wood which seemed to have been freshly burnt.

In front of the furnace were 5 metal chairs, all laid out in a semi-circular formation. On the wall opposite the furnaces, so behind the metal chairs, were two bookcases. They weren't that big, 6 foot in height and 3 foot in width, but they were packed with books leaving only one free shelf.

The far back part of the room was then packed with different appliances. A metal kettle, a pot which seemed to have water in it, a wooden object used to hold sharp knives, and several plastic containers without any lids. They weren't very tidily placed, though.

The last thing in the room was a doorway, a little higher than the one Spike had walked through from the bedroom which made it easier for him to get through, and to his luck it led him right outside onto the burnt terrain of grass.

The area outside of the house looked like a wildfire had spread; grass was heavily burnt or completely missing, trees were missing, fallen over, or fried, and in the distance Spike noticed the bodies of countless small and big animals. However he didn't question it, he wasn't up to it yet.

His eyes then met with that of three people standing around; they were unfamiliar, wearing surprisingly fashionable clothing for the type of area they were in currently. One was wearing a long, red, trench coat that covered his entire body from neck to knees, it was wound up tightly keeping his chest, waist, half his legs and entire arms hidden but his long, red hair which was darker than his coat was freely laid out to be seen.

Another was wearing a violet jacket, half a jacket really as the sleeves only reached her elbows. The jacket was left unzipped, revealing a light blue shirt underneath that stretched past her waist and was covering the start of her black pants. Her legs were tightly fitted by these pants, leaving only her feet left out due to her choice of footwear; black sandals.

Lastly the other man, who looked considerably young compared to the two beforehand, was dressed in a tight, black vest, which had its strapped wrapped around almost as if he wanted to suffocate. His legs were fitted with baggy, white pants, while his feet were also fitted with sandals except coloured white. However, uniquely to him, his hands were covered in white gloves which stretched over his wrists.

Spikes eyes then locked onto Paul and Laura who were sitting on a bench along the houses wall, specifically on Spikes left. They hadn't noticed him, but once realising the four figures they'd been watching had stopped to look at Spike themselves, they too turned and stood right up.
