Soul sat neatly on what was basically the ground of this warped, twisted, void-like space he was still trapped in. To his left was the body of his son, Raven, still a shell without his soul and having not moved an inch since Soul had become trapped.
In Soul's hands was the book he'd decided to study, and studied it he had. Time was unaccountable for here; Soul had no watch, nor an IQ of such astonishing value which would give him the talent to keep track of the seconds ticking by at perfect sync. In the amount of time that had passed, however, Soul had read through the book almost three times from front to back.
The book was split into three sections; the first section of the book was neither the shortest or the longest, in fact it was only roughly eighty pages long. It provided information and knowledge about the Void, and people capable of using the Voids power and type of magic. The author of this book called those kind of people 'Void Walkers', or Valkers for short, and made a constant note that this was his name for them while the race of beings born and living in the Void often call them Voidlings. The author didn't think the name fit well, and made them sound like children.
The lore and information the author gave weren't in-depth, or at least not as in-depth as Soul would've liked. It held information about how the Void is like an ocean of power, and that creatures swam through it, growing from the power, their bodies absorbing and harnessing that energy to grow stronger and almost impenetrable to most forces.
Societies of beings lived in the void, an almost infinite amount as the author had determined the void was an infinite space, almost like a fifth dimension where you can use cracks, or doorways as Soul interpreted them as, in the world to pop into three dimensional worlds then pop back out, similar to entering a house and going outside then heading back inside again except that only someone with help from the void and its power can access these cracks and doorways.
Soul got confused quite alot while reading, questioning why the author calls it a fifth dimension and not a fourth dimension since logically only three dimensions exist so far and also how such a world has been unnoticed when there exist so many powerful and different kinds of beings in the many realms.
Once the first eighty pages of the book were finished and Soul felt his head bursting with knowledge, knowledge he found himself not remembering that fast but still being fascinated by it, he moved onto the second section.
The next one hundred and seventy pages were detailed to the brim, tightly filled with words of different sizes as if the author had written a first draft of information then felt the need to add more details so he wrote carefully, smaller, and in sections to the sides so it was obviously split off from his earlier text. These pages were teachings from the author, teachings on how to harness the void and its energy.
Soul was brimming with fascination now, this is what he had hoped for, something powerful and extensive, something capable of saving his son and possibly himself right now.
The book made a note before going into full teacher that the power of the void was not ordinary, and Soul read the note multiple times until it was engraved in his head.'The void is a parasite. We harness it, manipulate it and control what part we can get our hands on but only because of the protection its world grants us. The energy we bathe in, the space of which our home is coated in, it gives us life beyond ordinary. For that, we are safe from its corruption, but the weak and nimble are not. If you desire its help, think carefully and long for it may be the last you ever do again.'
First time Soul read the phrase he choked, but he knew nothing else of which could save Raven. He accepted being an old fool long ago, running into danger to save Spike and letting Michael find him was an example. If his life was a necessary sacrifice then he saw no reason to back down for his child was more dear.
The teachings the author bestowed upon Soul were finely written. Each page, though sometimes multiple depending how excessive of a teaching was necessary, featured incantations and spells one could use to manipulate the void. It sounded to Soul like magic, just a more destructive and non-linear version that could surpass almost any wish.
Each incantation was described with the chant or phrase one needs to speak, though naturally it was not translated and was in the language taught to people living in the Void. The author, however, had managed to do an incredible job in translating each word, or phrase if there was no concrete translation for the specific word, and also added a part of the book to help on how to pronounce each word from the language of the Void.
Learning to pronounce words via text is a difficult thing, and so it wasn't perfect, but in comparison to how perfect it could've been then this author had done a masterful job.
Thus, the third section was featured with words and phrases mentioned in both prior sections, and explained their meanings in English and also how to pronounce each part of each word.
