zion's pov

"someone's been calling you for a while." lily points out, as my phone continues to ring with the incoming call from kacie

"don't worry about it." i smiled it off

"who's that anyways?" she asked

"don't worry about it," i reply.

"well you saying 'Oh DoNt WorRy AbOuT iT' wants me to make me worry about it." she pouted. "oh shit. 20 missed calls from kacie with the heart eyes emoji. sorry bout it."

"she's someone." i rolled my eyes a bit

"i'm gonna meddle in. what kind of someone?" she fluttered her eyes

"well, do you want to know?" i asked

"i have exposed myself yesterday about my ex. so why not? i'd love to get to know you," she replied

"kacie is someone. she's part of our friend group. we've had up and downs. maybe some flings. but its not in cases where there's commitment," i said, as i grabbed some chips

"oh i see. a special someone" she lifted her eyebrows and gave me a weird look. "are y'all a thing?"

"it's complicated. but there have been some scandals towards us," i replied. "but i want to keep things a secret."

"do you know how she feels?" she asked

"not really. okay. this is some childish talk," i said, as i pulled over to a parking lot

"excuse me, where are we?" she questioned
___
"it's complicated." it was all that i needed to hear. not gonna cause a commotion, so i just keep a "i'm just interested in being friends" accent so it wouldn't give off that i was kind of bummed
___
"welcome to santa monica pier." zion yelled, as he leaded me to the entrance of the boardwalk

"no. we have food in the car," i turned around

"it's fine. it's night time." he smiled

"where are we going?" i asked

10 a.m.

"i bought some tickets to pacific park. though she always wanted to go disneyland, i don't got the money," diana said. "i already gave them to nick."

"are you serious?" i asked, in a pissed mood

"well, it's free. take it or leave it. if she's not home before 1 am, i'm suing you." she ended the call
___
"open your eyes" zion said, once he took his hands off my eyes

"oh my gosh" i whispered to myself. "do you think i'm a child? you do know i'm just a year younger."

"what do you mean? it's a touch of california." he exaggerates. "i know you guys don't have actual amusement parks in hawaii."

"true." i said

when we got our wristbands, we went on all of the rides. not only that, but carnival games were not my thing

"yo. zion," i poke him as the coaster ride was finished. "wake up."

"hah. you could never," he sticks his tongue out, as he won the teddy bear on the carnival game

"get out of the way you grandpa," i yell at him when he couldn't move his bumper car

everything was all fun and games, until we went on the ferris wheel.

we were finally at the top, and she looks over the rail. her eyes glisten to the neon lights, and open wide as she sees the ocean view.

"look zion!" she points out over the dark blue sea.

i've only met this girl yesterday, yet i feel like she's always been a part of my life. though tonight i have felt like i've actually been free, it kind of left me on some guilt on kacie. i actually enjoyed  going to an amusement park than drain myself on alcohol at a party this time around.

"have you ever loved someone?" i asked lily. "did you love mikey?"

"oh ew. thanks for killing the mood." she frowned at me. "how could you love someone if they never thought about your feelings?"

"what exactly happened? full explanation. we have four minutes on here. and we can go for another round." i pointed out

"he was just my high school sweetheart that didn't last. also, have you ever loved someone?" she asked. "do you love kacie?"

"touché," i reply

"it's just that love to me is a word or a fantasy that only happen to those who have luck. though i may have thought i "loved" michael, since he said it himself, why would he cheat? The night it happened, i couldn't even concentrate. i was at the edge of the staircase, but my friend pulled me away. i was about to black out. four years poured down the drain. wasted. people say that prom night is supposed to be the best night of your life? then why did it leave me wondering why i wasn't good enough? why did it make me feel like i wasn't worth it? it made me think if there was something wrong with me,"  her voice cracked a bit, as she tears a little. the girl that was once full of hope in her eyes turned into pain that was kept inside of her emerging out. "if you loved me, why would you make me feel i wasn't worth it? why would you make me feel that there was something wrong with me? why would you make me feel that there was a problem with the way i act upon others, the way i talked, the way my body looked? if love is supposed to make you feel free, why did it feel like i was being trapped?"

when she started to sob, i carefully walked towards her side of the carrier.

"you are beyond enough. if anything, it's his loss," i wiped her tears that fell down her flushed cheeks. for all i can say, it was a moment. i don't know what exactly, but it was a moment.

"if anyone gets with you, they are like, victory royale for life," i laughed a bit, as she gave me a death stare

"go back to your side," she pointed towards the other side.

"well, you wanna go home?" I asked, as we were about to go down the ferris wheel.

"yea," she clears her throat.

as we got out of the park, we had some silence the first few minutes in the car.

"zion?" she asked

"yes?" i reply

"if ever so, don't ever cheat on a girl. ever. if something seems off, talk. communication is the only thing that can solve things. if you ever fall out of love, its either you work things out, or break it. a toxic relationship means a toxic life. don't ever leave a girl hanging, and leave them with feelings that i was left with." lily says, as she locked eyes with me.

"okay you got me fucked up," i laughed a bit, which made her giggle a bit
