Chases PoV The house was perfect, I was ready to have so many memories. Autumn laughing for the first time, her first steps, her first birthday, me and Katherine getting engaged and then married. I wanted this life forever, it was perfect. I had set up autumns crib, James had come over to help since Natasha had gone to see the baby. "So, do you feel different?" James asked me. "About what?" "Being a dad?" "Oh, well yeah actually" I answered. "All done" James clapped as we put the final screw in the crib. "Finally" I sipped my beer. We unpacked the rest of the boxes, the house still looked pretty empty but at least most rooms had some type of furniture in it. "Can I ask you something Chase?" James sat down on the sofa with me. "Sure" "Natasha told me she wanted a baby" he shrugged. "Really?" I gasped. "Yeah, I don't want one right now, I mean we are only 19!" He frowned. "Just tell her your not ready." I suggested. "I'm scared too lose her." He sighed. "I'm sure she will understand." I patted his back. "We better head back to the hospital." I sighed. He nodded and we both drove up to the hospital.
I walked into Katherine's hospital room, Natasha and James had already left and she was just sat there starring at Autumn. "Hey baby" I whispered. "Hey, she's due a feeding soon if you want to feed her?" She smiled. I nodded and woke her up, rocking her in my arms. "Hey gorgeous." I smiled. I sat down as Autumn drank her bottle. "Have the doctors come back in?" I asked. "The midwife will be back any minute to weigh her again." "Great" I smiled. Autumn opened her eyes a little as she sucked on the nipple of the bottle. "Wow, she's opening her eyes!" I looked over at Katherine. "Yeah she does that when she drinks." She smiled. She had gorgeous blue eyes just like her mother. I loved this feeling, being around my family and everything was coming together, I had my new job as a lawyer and Katherine was going to university next year. There was a knock at the door. "Hello?" The midwife popped her head around the door. "Hey." Katherine smiled. "Can I weigh Autumn?" She asked. I nodded and handed her over to the midwife. I held Katherine's hand as she starred at the scales, worry in her eye. "Okay." The midwife handed Autumn to Katherine and she rocked her back and forth. "Well?" I looked at the midwife. "She's lost a bit of weight, which is normal for babies but because she is so small and premature we are thinking of giving her a feeding tube for the time being." Katherine gasped and looked down at the little baby in her hands. "This means she will be in an incubator for most of her time here, unfortunately." The midwife frowned. Katherine started to cry, it made me upset but I knew it was for the best, our baby just needed fattening up and then she could come home. "Can I take her?" The midwife reached out for Autumn. Katherine kissed her on the head and passed her to the midwife before burying her head into my chest. "Chase, is she going to be okay?" She sobbed. "She's going to be fine" I rested my head on hers. "I just don't want to see her hooked up to so many wires." She whipped away her tears. "I don't either but it's for her own good" She laid her head on mine and sighed. "Have you even told your family about her?" She asked. "No not yet." "Why don't you?" "There not the most caring people" "Oh, I thought you hand an aunt and cousin though?" "Yeah, I guess I'll tell her." I sighed. She smiled at me, before rolling over and going to sleep.
Whilst she's asleep I step out to call my aunt. "Hey" "Oh my, Chase!" My aunt exclaimed. "I have a surprise!" "What?" "She had the baby" "Oh my! Can I come up?" She asked. "Of course" "I'm on my way!" It made me laugh at how much she wanted to see Autumn, she loved kids did Melanie that's why she raised me. About an hour later at around 6pm she came into the hospital. "Hey!" I wrapped my arms around her. "I brought McDonald's, Katherine likes nuggets right?" She asked. I nodded and chuckled. I led her to the hospital room where Katherine was awake reading a book. "Katherine, this is my aunt Melanie." I introduced her. "Wow it's lovely to meet you!" She stood up and hugged Melanie. "It's lovely to meet you too! I brought food." She handed Katherine the nuggets. "Thank you so much!" I loved to see my family mixing together and being happy, this is what I had always wanted I just wished my mum and dad were here to see it. "Where's the baby?" She asked. "She's in NICU because she's underweight right now, we can go see her if you'd like?" Katherine smiled. Melanie nodded and we all walked over to the NICU. We looked through the window and I pointed out Autumn to Melanie. "My god she's beautiful!" She smiled. "Thank you." Katherine came and hugged me as we all looked at our little girl sleeping soundly. "I'll have to get going, Toni is having a sleep over" she rolled her eyes. "Thanks for coming" I hugged her. Me and Katherine waved as she left. "your auntie is lovely" Katherine hugged me. "She is" I kissed Katherine's forehead. "I don't want to leave chase" she frowned. "Leave what?" I asked "The hospital, I have to leave tomorrow but she has to stay" she sobbed. "It will be okay, you can come visit and you get to stay in the new house!" I reassured her. "I guess" she whipped the tears from her face. I left her to get some sleep whilst I drove home.
