Reality

A sharp stare comes from obsidian eyes,

A gleaming beak reflects silver moonlight,

Black feathers fill the skies as birds screech cries,

Echoes eclipse the quiet of the night.

An executioner's axe slashes,

Silence breaks as crickets chirp a sad tune,

A rebel's dream is turned to black ashes,

A ruler's face as masked as a raccoon.

A daughter cries as soldiers open fire,

Bullets hit hopefilled hearts of traitors,

Innocence burns upon a public pyre,

People trampled by greedy dictators.

Everyone yearns for more freedom in life,

But reality stabs them with a knife.
