Forgotten

My mind is like a sieve.

By ten o'clock, I've forgotten what I ate for breakfast.

Seconds take forever.

Hours end before they ever began.

Birthdays, holidays, and afternoon plans are forgotten in an instant.

Childhood memories of playing with friends,

Name-calling and mean glances,

Trauma of a fourth grader,

A lullaby,

A friend's laugh,

A certain song I fell in love with,

Summer days of my youth,

Two loving parents,

A wish to a star,

A toddler's favorite book,

Laughter and smiles and everything childhood should be;

Forgotten.

My mind is like a sieve.

I blink and it's tomorrow.
