-          the semester was ending, and yerin could sense it in the air. the café was unusually crowded with students hunched over laptops and notebooks, cramming for their final exams. jeongguk sat across from her, brow furrowed in concentration. he'd glance up at her, searching for the answer to his unnameable question in the curve of her cheek, or jawline - she watched the understanding play out across his face - and then the soft dab of paint on the canvas would add itself to the quiet clinks in the background.

yerin didn't want it to end. she sat perfectly still, and tried to memorize it all.

students packed up their laptops, put away their mugs, and left. others came in from the chilly evening breeze to take their empty seats. finally jeongguk set down his brush, looked up and gave her a gentle smile.

"i think it's done. do you want to see?"
