Crowd gathered around,
Candy leis in hand.
Loud music playing,
Car drives up street.Green uniform, tan boots,
Tired smile on face.
Hugs are administered,
Children laughing all over the place."Welcome home, Major",
The crowd shouts out.
Pictures taken,
Advice given.Joy flicks onto his kids' faces,
For their dad has been many places.
Mexicans and Hawaiians,
Gathered for welcome.Neighbors greet them,
Sharing their love.
Retirement is talked of,
As is the old planes he'll miss. But happiness lurks behind,
Every person, so kind.
For another soldier home,
Safe from Iraq.___________________________________________________________________________
