It's Okay

40 3 6

When horns are honking
When lights are flashing yellow
When dogs are barking
When life's anything but mellow

Rushing from thing to thing
Never stopping to breathe
Life leaves it's own sting
But no one can leave

During traffic and car crashes
Pause, and take a moment to sigh
Mad grocery store dashes
Don't help when it's time to cry

Success only goes so far
Before humanity settles in
It's irrational to pack up the car
Leaving can be seen as a sin

When the walls start moving
Creeping closer together
The fear becomes soothing
And hope is gone forever

It's okay to break down
It's okay to cry
But it's not okay to drown
Or wave goodbye

Sit down and cry
Bring a few tissues
Eat the fresh apple pie
Before you press discontinue

Now, stand up
Wipe the tears off your face
Don't fall back into a slump
You don't need anymore space

Put aside time during life
For a moment to breathe
A moment without playing the wife
A moment to see who you are - underneath

Wake up a little earlier
Go to bed a little later
Let the counter be a little dirtier
Makes life that much greater

Say a quick prayer
Praise heaven above
Watch the moods and stay aware
It's yourself, that you need to love.
