First Round

Samus's P.O.V

The morning after training was kinda quiet. I guess everyone was tired from trying to get quick training in so they slept in a little. So I assumed I was the only one up.

At least until I saw Pikachu rush by me and go into the training room. I followed him in curiously "Why are you up so early?" "Pika" He said pointing to the newly posted bracket that showed him and Captain Falcon as the first match in 2 hours

"You're really keen on winning this" "Pi!" He said nodding. "Alright then don't overwork yourself" I said "Pi" I heard him say on my way out

Ness's P.O.V

After waking up and getting into my everyday clothes I headed to the kitchen to make a sandwich as a small breakfast

Once I had finished eating I noticed they finally put up a bracket and looked to see what my matches would be. Only to realize I didn't have a match this round.

Apparently, since 12 people don't make a very even bracket 4 random fighters were automatically into the next round so I could relax for this round. I looked back to the bracket to see the matches happening soon which were Luigi and Jigglypuff, Samus and Donkey Kong, Yoshi and Mario, and the first match between Pikachu and Captain Falcon which started soon so I started heading to the spectator's room

As I went in I saw Samus sitting there waiting for the match too so I decided to sit next to her. "Who do think is gonna win?" I asked trying to break the silence. "Probably Pikachu his speed is gonna overwhelm Captain Falcon" "What do you think about going against Donkey Kong then?" I asked "I'll win I've fought worse. Who are you going against first?" "I'm not in the first round but tomorrow I'll go against Jigglypuff or Luigi"

I had been so focused on the conversation that when I finally looked back to the match I hadn't even realized the match had started and not only that Pikachu was winning, like almost game over winning. Samus was right too he was faster and he knew it trying to use it in his advantage. The last thing I saw in the match was Pikachu fling Captain Falcon upwards with his tail and summoned lightning sending him upwards taking his last stock

"Pikachu's better than I thought" I said surprised "Yeah he's pretty serious about this tournament too" She added "I need to head to my first match. If you see Pikachu tell him I said congrats on his first match" "Uh If I see him I guess. Good luck on your match." "Thanks" I heard as she left.

Very soon after Pikachu had walked in "Samus said congrats on your match" I said as he looked over just to look back like nothing happened when I'd finished talking. I couldn't blame him though we weren't on the best terms since the bus ride.

Then Fox came in so luckily I wouldn't watch this game alone."Why weren't you here for the first match?" "Just didn't have a reason to watch it. Speaking of which when's your first match?" "Not until tomorrow" I answered, "You're one of the lucky four too then?" "Yep" I said as the game started

"Do you think Samus will win?" I asked "Against Donkey Kong? For sure." He said as Samus took an early lead. Samus throughout the match had used zoning to her advantage which had worked fairly well against DK the whole time and in the end, Samus won easily. It wasn't as one-sided as Pikachu's match but it was still strongly in her favor.

As she walked in Pikachu was the first to greet her and climbed up to her shoulder which confused me I hadn't known they were on such good terms. "Congratulations on your game" Fox said "Thanks glad you could make it" She said taking off her Helmet "What are the last two matches for today?" She asked "The next one is Luigi and Jigglypuff and the last for today should be Yoshi and Mario." I answered as she sat down with Pikachu still on her shoulder

Jigglypuff and Luigi's match wasn't very interesting other than some hits from rest which is what led to Jigglypuff's win which meant that was my next match was against her. Or him? I didn't exactly know I could only tell with Pikachu was by his tail.

The final match for the first round was probably the tensest one Mario and Yoshi were really evenly matched. But at the time I also was just ready for the first round to be over. Once both were on a high percentage on their last stock Yoshi took the edge and whipped his tail up at Mario in the air to send Mario flying ending the Match and the first round

"Now that the matches are over do you guys wanna go eat?" Fox asked "Yeah I'm starving" I answered "I could eat too" Samus answered "Pi!" Pikachu said agreeing as we all got up and headed to go eat
