Chapter 29: Birthday

The next day in school Miyako wasn't talking to me and Tadao was absent.

I guess he didn't want to come to school today for some reason he didn't wanna tell me why so I guess it's something he thinks that's personal...

"Hey, Miyako... What's wrong with you?" I asked

She didn't answer me so I placed my hand on her shoulder. She didn't even move or look at me.

I got up and stood in front of her. That's when she finally looked at me.

"What's wrong...?" I asked again

She didn't speak to me and then she looked away.

"Come on Miyako, talk to me." I said

"Today is my birthday and.."

Wait, it was her birthday?!

Out of no where she started to cry

"Mica broke up with me!" She yelled

She couldn't stop crying... I didn't know what to do so I pulled her head to my chest.

"Just let it all out..." I said

I heard her sniff a couple of times then she wrapped her arms around me.

"I-Its okay I'm here..."

It was only me and her in the classroom.

"Happy birthday Miyako." I said smiling

She then squeezed me tighter.

"Okay okay! That's way too tight to hug someone!"

I swear I'm always in a near death experience.

She looked at me with tears in her eyes and smiled.

"Thank you Hiroki." She said

I wiped the tears form her eyes and smiled. I wanted to her her happy. I didn't want her eyes to be filled with tears. Her smile is what I needed.

"I'm finally 16.." She mumbled.

Wow. She's older than me!

"Ahah, you are older than me."

She let go of me and looked me in the eyes

"Oh really...?" She said

It got quiet.

I'm... I'm her friend right?! Nothing more than that I promise.

I know one thing for sure.

Mica is a damn jerk. I hope he never sees her again.
