genesis jones had never been happier.

she was in love, there was no denying it. the was 100%, completely in love with sadie sink.

of course, as soon as charlie found out, she lost her mind. "i totally told you so!" she rubbed it in. "who told you to give it a few months? oh yeah, me! and now who's completely head-over-heals? you!"

"i get it, i get it."

"but i don't think you do-"

sadie spent the night many times after that, and she explained that she most definitely did not like finn. so now the group and the girl hung out many times, gen dragging charlie with her. she seemed to have a thing with noah, so it wasn't as much dragging and more begging to go.

she felt like she was finally where she belonged.

gen couldn't help but think that if miss benny were there to see her that she'd be proud. gen doesn't want to think that though, because she knows the thought will bring her down. she knows miss benny wouldn't want that.

her time with sadie was her favorite. yea, she loved the kids at work and charlie but nothing compared to how she felt when she was with sadie.

her heart felt swollen like it was going to burst. she loved how sadie could make her laugh and how she could look so beautiful while doing so.

she loved how she listened. gen had a talker for a best friend. somehow the conversation turned over to her in all occasions, so to have someone who just sat there and would listen to you for hours...

gen couldn't express her happiness if she tried.

something in the happiness drove her to call her parents. just to get closure.

you see, gen's relationship with her parents was complicated, to say the least. when she was a child they never really gave a damn about her. well, her mother didn't care. her father loved her dearly, but her mother always took him and forced him to leave her alone. this caused her to spend most nights at charlie's, her parents becoming gen's as well. as gen grew older, the less they cared. they only felt disappointment for the girl who chose to major in music. at some point they broke, kicked her out. they weren't too cruel, though. they bought her an apartment in brooklyn and told her to never contact them again.

but gen said fuck it!

as she dialed the number, her hands were shaking. she put the phone on speaker. sadie grabbed her hand, wanting to comfort her. sadie knew she hadn't talked to her parents in years.

"hello?"

"uh, hey."

"excuse me, who is this?"

"is this lena jones?"

"speaking. who is this?"

"u-uh," gen's voice trembled. sadie gave her hand a gentle squeeze. "this is genesis. your daughter."

nothing but silence came from the other end.

"i just wanted to call, tell you how your only child is doing. i thought you might care after all these years." gen's voice didn't hold as much fear, but now held anger.

"oh. yes. hello daughter."

"mother."

"listen, i really do not have time right now, i'll call you later-"

gen let out a bitter chuckle. "no you won't."

a small gasp sounded from the other end.

"i just called to tell you i have a girlfriend." another gasp. "decided to give you another reason to not support me. but right now i'm the happiest i've ever been. no thanks to you, lena."

"genesis-"

"save it. i already know. i'm a disgrace blah blah. i just wanted you to know that all the great memories we could've had together, we will never have. you will never get to see your daughter walk down the aisle, get married. because you kicked me out. you'll never have a daughter because you fucked up."

"gen-"

she quickly hung up, not having anymore patience. sadie quickly pulled the girl into her arms, seeing her on the verge of tears.

the two hugged for a while, before they headed to the cafe.

-

sadie sink was ecstatic.

she truly felt in love with genesis jones.

she knew it was too quick. they had only been dating a few months, but sadie knew she was utterly in love with her.

just everything about her made sadie sink absolutely star-struck.

her friends were confused. they had never really seen sadie so happy. yeah, they had seen her calm or cool but they had never seen her happy.

millie was the only one not confused.

she was excited.

she loved gen. she loved sadie. millie thought the two perfect for each other. she couldn't help but scream after sadie told her about the two.

sadie felt like she was dreaming and she never wanted to wake up.

of course, at some point the bliss had to end. sadie knew that, but she didn't want to believe.

the thought stayed at the back of her mind, but she just wanted to enjoy the feeling for now. the feeling of being in love.

the two had already been through a lot in the few months. their first, second, third, and so on kiss. their first (minor) fight. genesis calling her mom. sadie almost losing her job because she was late four times in a week (genesis wanted her to stay for five more minutes).

through all the good, and all the bad, sadie fell more and more in love each day.

everything was perfect, exactly as it was supposed to.

-

sunday night, sadie sink got a call from an unknown number.

"hello?" she answered.

"hi, we are the duffer brothers..."
