Prompt:
Use at least twelve words from this list: flap, winter, torch, pail, jug, strum, lever, massage, octopus, marionette, stow, pumice, rug, jam, limp, campfire, startle, wattle, bruise, chimney, tome, talon, fringe, walker;
Include something that tastes terrible;
Include some part (from a few words to several lines) of a previous poem that didn’t quite pan out; and
Include a sound that makes you happy.
My Poem:
I still remember you.
I remember your touch,your smile
,your strange love of jam,
The way you never failed to make me laugh.
Before you i was a marionnette
Letting mother pull my strings
Never thinking for myself.
With you i was a stow away
Waiting to be caught by the enemy.
You told me not to cringe
Under my mothers talon.
You gave me gifts.
Never expensive but they meant the world.
An octopus shaped rock is still my favorite.
You laughed and said it’d give me powers.
The sound of your laughter warms me,
Happiness watches over me.
I was falling in love.
When did i stop thinking,
“Love kills slowly.”?
I remember when we layed on the rug
Next to your chimney,
As the soft strums of your guitar
Lulled me to sleep.
Your words were soft and shy
Like you’d startle me if you got too loud
“I love you.”
9:05. 6 months,2 weeks and six days
Since that day we met
Since the day you lit a torch in my heart.
I don’t want to remember that winter,
And how bitter my tears tasted,
As you lay limp in my arms.
Its strange to think your gone now,
But i hope you save me a seat.
One next to the campfire, under gods stars,
So you can again tell me the names of every single constellation.
