vanessa took the covers off herself, slipped on her slippers and headed downstairs of the two story house that she shared with her friends.
"you guys are playing mario kart again?" she asks, seeing as 2 of her 3 roommates were sitting on the couch, with remote controls in their hands.
"yes, i will not lose this to julian." miguel says as his character throws a banana peel at julian's.
"you mean for the seventh time tonight?" julian laughs as miguel rolls his eyes at him.
"make that the eighth time." julian gloats as his character passes miguel's and makes it through the finish line.
julian gets up from his spot on the couch and walks into the kitchen, following vanessa's footsteps.
"what are you doing up? it's like 3 am." julian asks, miguel entering the kitchen a few moments after them.
"yeah, you're usually a goner by midnight." miguel says, his head in the refrigerator as he looks for a water bottle.
"some stupid guy tried prank calling me, which was a complete fail by the way, and now i can't sleep." she replies as she makes herself a bowl of cereal.
"did he at least tell you why he did it?" julian asks.
"yeah, he said something about a youtube video? i'm not sure, i just know he called me and then texted me if it was okay to use the footage or whatever." she grumbles.
"how'd he even get your number?" miguel asks.
"beats me. he probably just dialed random numbers and magically got mine." vanessa shrugged.
"i've done that before." miguel says, causing him to earn a laugh from julian.
"of course you would. who'd you end up calling?" julian asks, as his laughter dies down.
"i don't really remember but i'm positive it was claudia from barnes and noble." miguel replies, causing vanessa to shake her head at them and their stupidity.
"well, whatever way he got my number, he woke me up and i can't sleep so if you need me, i'll be watching netflix in the living room." vanessa says, picking up her bowl.
julian and miguel follow her out the kitchen before they prepare to ask her more questions.
"did you get his name?" julian asks.
vanessa shakes her head. "you didn't think of asking for a name when he called?" miguel asks. "that's stupid." he finishes.
"he just said, "subscribe to k and j", whatever the hell that means." she shrugs. "either way, we'll finish talking about this in the morning because i am dead beet tired. night nessa, night miguel." julian says, before getting up to retreat up to his bedroom.
"me too. night ness, night juls." miguel calls out before heading down the hall to his room.
"goodnight guys." vanessa calls out before putting her attention back on the tv.
