*I feel like it's obvious but I don't own anything. JK Rowling owns everything, except for Jill. Jill is a figment if my imagination.*

The sound of her office door slamming shut nearly scared Hermione out of her chair. She dropped her quill and made eye contact with a handsome blonde.

“What the bloody hell was that?” Hermione said while clutching her chest.

“I tried to come in and some woman glued me to the floor,” Draco said through ragged breaths.

Jill scampered through the door, “I’m sorry Hermione, he just barged in and-”

“That’s quite alright Jill, I was expecting him,” Hermione replied.

“Will you be expecting Mr. Malfoy often?”

“Yes we were.. Um-” Hermione couldn’t find the right words to break the news but luckily, Draco did.

“We were paired together for the International Population Expansion Act,” Draco interrupted.

Jill didn’t hide her look of shock and surprise. What fresh hell is this, Jill thought, There is no way that Hermione Granger would be paired with Draco Malfoy. She’s a war heroine for Merlin’s sake, why would the ministry force her to be with a death eater?

“How exciting,” Jill forced out, “I’ll add Mr. Malfoy to the list of approved visitors.”

“Please, call me Draco,” Draco said with a smile.

Jill simply nodded and exited Hermione’s office without another word.

Hermione stood up and it was the first time Draco really got a look at her. Hermione looked beautiful the other night, all dolled up in that red dress and even now she looks just as beautiful. Her silky yellow blouse brought out her deep complexion and her grey pencil skirt accentuated her curvy figure. All Draco wanted to do was wrap his arms around her tiny waist and pull her close to him but it was too soon in their relationship to do that. Draco wanted everything to go perfectly between them. Even though their relationship was arranged, he wanted their relationship and feelings to develop into something real.

“Draco? Are you alright, you zoned out,” Hermione said with a hint of concern.

“Yeah I’m perfect.” Draco took Hermione’s coat off of the rack next to him and helped her into it, “I hope you’re hungry.”

“Ravenous.”

“This place is a bit posh for lunch, don’t you think?” Hermione asked.

Draco shook his head, “I wanted to take you somewhere nice and away from wizards. This place is up scale but it’s mostly filled with rich living off of their parents’ money looking for a bite to eat after a night out.”

Hermione looked around and noticed Draco was completely right. The restaurant was filled with people in their early twenties wearing designer clothes and large sunglasses. She counted twelve louis vuitton bags just out of her peripheral vision.

“Good point. I’ve been followed by reporters from the Daily Prophet ever since the first couple pairings were released.” Hermione announced,

“So I have I,” Draco sighed, “It’s probably best if we wait to announce our, paring.”

Hermione nodded, “I completely agree. The press have been playing up the whole ‘War Heroine is Getting Married' bit and I don’t want to give them anything to gossip over. I stopped reading the Prophet because we were one of the last couples to be paired and I was sick of seeing articles speculating who I was going to be with.”

“Yeah the same thing happened to Theo. He was paired with a woman from Australia a few weeks ago,” Draco said, “So far they seem really happy. The long distance thing is taking a toll but I can tell why they were paired together.”

“Why do you think we were paired together?” Hermione asked.

“Well, we both share the same values and we have similar hobbies.”

“So you think we were paired together because we are workaholics and we like to read?”

The waitress came over and placed their food on the table, “That’s not all,” Draco stated, “I find you insanely attractive and you’re everything that I’m not. Hermione, you’re kind and work very well with others. You’re also driven and you also treat me like a person and not some vile creature that used to work for one of the most dangerous dark wizards of all time.”

Hermione reached across the table and grabbed Draco’s hand, “Draco, we were just kids when the war happened. You were dragged into working for Voldemort and there was no way to stop it. I can’t blame you for that, we just have to move on with our past and let bygones be bygones.”

“I wasn’t all innocent, Hermione. When you were being torchered I just stood there and watched like a coward, I should have done something, stopped her. I hope you can learn to forgive me,” Draco said just above a whisper.

“I forgave you a long time ago. I have a little scar, so what? It wasn’t your doing. All of that is in the past now, we should just look forward to the future.”
